Have you tried cleaning the machine? When I had an ADAT it needed to be cleaned often and if it wasn't all sorts of weird things happened. I was so happy when the DA-38 came out!
Thanks! I actually had the four-track version that I bought at the same flea market in the original box a few years ago but I sold it. It would have been cool to have both of them together but I don't have the space.
This one looks cool, though!
I found this machine at the Salvation Army for $50 a few years ago, but I only recently had the time to get it going. I started on a Fostex X-26 in (IIRC) 1990 then moved to an R8 then a TSR-8. When I was at Berklee the Otari decks were everywhere, but I could never afford one.
I'm really...
Earlier this year, I found this Tascam 6100 at a flea market for $100. I understand; it came from an estate sale and hasn't been used much. I hit the flea market every Sunday at 6 am and every season find some cool stuff.
The machine was dirty, and the belts were shot. I changed some caps, put...
Pro Audio Design. Ask for Ken.
The good thing about PAD is that they have access to tons of parts. Plus, they're probably one of the most respected shops on the east coast, if not the country. Great people and very fair pricing.

When I finished my undergraduate degree, I got a job playing on a cruise ship. I bought an Ovation because it was pretty good on the ocean. Not a fan of them at all, but for that application it worked well.
I almost bought a black 12 string for $300 a couple weeks ago because it seemed like a...
I ordered an AEA R84 last weekend and it arrived today.
First impressions are very good. The build quality is top-notch and for what it does, which is fairly unique, it seems to excel.
So far, I've tried it on vocals and acoustic guitars (an old Gibson, an old Martin, and a baritone Taylor)...
The 3500 is pretty much the same console. I had a 3500 and IIRC the difference is the vca automation on the 3700.

I had some Behringer gear years about twenty years ago and it was ok for the time. I had a V-Verb in my rack next to a PCM-81 and PCM-91 and it sounded pretty good. Also had a headphone amp for a long time, but it started to hum. It only cost about $100 so I can't complain.
I wouldn't buy any...
- connect two cables from interface out to in on 4-track
- pan left channel on 4-track hard left and right hard right
- arm the tracks you want to use (example 1 and 2)
- hit record
I tend to like things that you don't see every day. I'm not that into modern guitars or things that I see all the time. I've been buying guitars since about 1988, when I was delivering newspapers, and have bought/sold/traded for a long time.
I like unique sounds, so I try to use different...
