Need to know what overhead mics to use for drums.

At the moment I'm using Audix f15 condenser mics as overheads to record drums with. They're causing the snare and cymbals (hats especially) to sound a little harsh. I was wondering what a smoother sounding and cheap'ish alternative pair would be? Thanks in advance!

Do I need a different mic?

I've been playing around recording some friends and am having troubles getting the vocals to sound like I want. I am using a PG58. The vocals are way to shrill and to take this away I either have to EQ/compress it a ton or get the singer to hold the mic really far back and sing a lot softer...

Shure SM57 vs. SM58 on guitar?

I have been using an SM58 for micing my guitar cab, but I'm wondering how it differs from an SM57. Would there be much difference? Can anyone tell me? Thanks in advance!

Need some help with recording drums...

I'm trying to put together a demo for my cover band. We have a very minimalist setup and are using 2 Audix F15 condensers as overheads. We have tried several different arrangements, but it seems like the kit has a far away sound to it. Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this...

Getting a lower recorded bass sound...

I am trying to record a cover of Mary Jane's Last Dance by Tom Petty with my cover band. We are using the original track as a reference and one of the main things that is definitely off is the bass tone. We used a Standard P Bass going to a GK 2001RB head straight into the interface...

FT: 2 Audix F15 condensers for large diaphram condenser.

I bought these a while back to use for mainly acoustic and some vocals. Now we don't do that kinda stuff anymore, and it doesn't sound as good with our new singers vocals. Would like to trade for a condenser for vocals. PM me if interested! Audix Fusion F15 Cymbal Condenser Mic 2 Pack: Shop...

    Condencer for drums?

Right now I am recording my drum demos with a single Audix f15. It does okay for what we need, but I am looking to experiment with a little bit better mics. I don't wanna go over $400, preferably less than that. I'd also like to continue using just 1 mic. Can anyone suggest something better...

Anyone here recorded drums with 1 or 2 mics?

I have always used EZDrummer for my recordings, but my new band is putting a little demo cd of some cover clips together and I thought about micing the drums for the drummer for a lil more natural sound. I have an audix pack with a kick mic, snare mic and 2 overheads, but only have a Line 6...

I am trying to get a little home setup back going again and have been interested in these monitors. However, I am back in school now and money is really tight and I want to make sure that I'm getting the best bang for the buck. Is there any other brand that has a comparable model for less...

    FS: Shure SM7b microphone

I bought this mic about last year to use with a few recordings and it worked awesome for my needs. I wanted to keep it around in case I ever decided to record again but I've started back with school and need some money to pay for classes. The mic is basically in new condition and I will ship...

Line 6 POD XT vs. Gearbox

I have been using the Line 6 Gearbox software with my UX2 for the last few years and it has been giving me okay results. I have been wondering about taking different approaches though. How much better (or worse) would using a POD XT be for guitar parts? Thanks in advance!
