    Recording setup - microphone holder

Seems like quite a few there -all along similar lines I suppose. Can't speak of the quality.. Have or used a few of those clamp type holders not particularly fond of. What would you like different wise? Have a look through these guys perhaps? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/

    Recording hand percussion

I had an 'eye opening moment that led to tests in my early days. Basically- finding strings of flat tops (along with some bits of odd sounds if I recall)* while the chain indicated headroom. Upshot was SDCs I tried -Octavia, QTC-1 needed quite some distance to not clip regardless of what the...

    Recording hand percussion

Initially I had a few bits to contribute re the original question, now, not so much.

A Truly Fine Vocal Mic for live performance.

I'd offer very ..very often many times the addition of the foam wind screen on 'live mics makes an improvement. I'll see ya' your Monterey Pop and raise you.. Add.. grins :>)

A Truly Fine Vocal Mic for live performance.

After many mics over the years bit the bullet as they say and went with 3 Shure KMS-8 and a KSM-9hs (the hyper cardioid -also the least hyped top end of the condenser versions (..have no use for 'sizzle top end :>)

Limiting Master Bus for a few peaks?

+1 on your post above. As well on the mix comp/limiter early on. First being there's no particular need or rush generally to getting the mix up 'hot. While I understand the mix into the comp' ins and outs, tried it for a while, I just found the trade-offs' not worth it. Hmm.. ok. Primarily, the...

Is there a new version of Ultrafunk Sonitus Surround plugin?

I still use the comp (does some unique interesting things down in the 'zero attack -near-zero release ranges.. I have no idea if this is valid -for real/safe etc.. I'll not click on it :>) https://ultrafunk-sonitus-fx-pack.software.informer.com/

The Drum Bubble - construction details

Wow. I wouldn't even try offering comment acoustically useful. I was wondering about the peak levels -vs steady state in play as well. But been 'round long enough to recognize a hell of a lot of work represented when it's there. Hoping here maybe this won't be one of these '90% to get 'close...

My singing vocals don't sound good. Advice?

I think I need to offer going nearly an almost opposite direction here -rather straight clean and stripped down voc sample, at least initially to hear and sus out the issue(s). May I ask are you using hardware kit like this in tracking (vocals in particular)? It looks like what one would expect...

I chase the bright elusive butterfly of reverb (apologies to Bob Lind.)

Hey BMG, just wanted to say, I'm up for following this up here ...if you'd like :>) I will add this .... While a 'simple hardware solution might seem attractive, likely that's not true, plus you can get there just as well in plugs.

    How set vocal recording level?

More likely we can toss a certain amount of transient* w/o it being very noticeable. That and that plug has some impressive comments as to it doing what it does quite well. (I looked before jumping into this thread ..re; that 'preventing clipping of our A/D thing :>) Re that first line.. about...

    How set vocal recording level?

How a plug works on the analog level before it even hits the A/D would be the question.

I chase the bright elusive butterfly of reverb (apologies to Bob Lind.)

Interesting a Fender amp tank and the verb on Night Before' are sort of similar -simple straight decay, not much predelay, sort of upper mid 'splash. Just to go with what I got here.. First off how you are on the basic parameters? The basic stuff that defines how verbs act.. IMHO give you a leg...

    How set vocal recording level?

Woah, to be clear, still meaning limiting record input levels -with a plug?

    Transferring Multitrack Reels Into Computer?

Interesting. We are talking CD here right? My copy (version) of After Bathing at Baxter's has one track that seems to start a bit down in pitch -but only the one. I presumed it was intentional :>)

    The Internet's Best Recording Resources

Shame on me for not posting much like I used to (still active' but not as much. I've always enjoyed the 'helping part as much as the rest, (gathered a lot in the last fifty years or so, and sharing feels well.. goot right :>) But lately -or not so lately actually come to lament the loss...
