I have a taylor 414 grand (its wonderfull). I know elixer strings last longer and sound nice but what else is there? The problem with coated strings is that I think the coating dulls the sound when using a metal slide.

Everytime I see a pic of someone using a small diaphram condensor there is no shock mount. I know that there are shockmounts made specifically for thin mics. I cant think of a reason why they are not needed.
