    Delays and fattening sounds.

I read in a book that with a digital delay you can fatten sounds by setting the delay to 30ms (which your ear can't hear) and then panning the original signal one way and then the delayed signal the other way (to as wide as you want the track). My question is, what are some good delays and...

    Drumming and punching in

Hey, I've been trying to record my band and it seems that everytime our drummer goes through one of our songs he messes up at least once. We play fast aggressive music, so I guess it's not too hard to believe that he can make a mistake everytime, but I'm just wondering is there any good methods...

    E602 for kick?

My friend is buying some drum mics and he said he's thinking about picking up a sannheiser (sic) for his kick drum. Should I let him spend the extra 100 on it, or just convince him that the d112 is well worth his money instead? I've heard a lot about the main two kick drum mics being the d112...

    A comprehensive listing of order...

... Is about to be built in this thread. Okay, I've been playing around with compression, reverb, and other fun tools for a few months now, and I'm finally to the point where I need to sit down and read as much information on them as I can so I can actually understand what I'm doing. My...

    24 bit recording.

Everytime I open the settings up and choose any of the three 24 bit recording styles n-track freezes. I'm using a delta 66 and omni studio. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to solve it? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled n-track and it didn't help anything. Christopher

One more try, please give this a listen.

I think there has been two people that have looked at both of my posts. I took out the (lead) guitar which bogged down the entire song and I think it sounds much much much better and more clear. Please take one more listen to my recording and let me know whatcha think. Remember, the lead...

    All three songs.

Okay, I posted one song a day or two ago and now I have the other two 'completed.' These had to be thrown together for tomorrow because they needed them for a demo type thing, but now I want you guys to check them out and let me know what's up and what you think I could change. I know the...

Well, who's ready to tell me how wrong I did this? :D

I tracked three songs for my friend's band yesterday for twelve hours straight. I came home and this morning set to working on the first one. Ummm. Let me know what you think. I'm by no means great at this, so I need all of the help I can get. I used: N-track Omni Studio with Delta 66...

12 hours of using n-track. The results?

I want to use something different. Haha. 1. After having the first two songs drums recorded, they mysteriously vanished, so I set the preferences up for me to set the name of every track I was recording before I started recording. Later on when we had to redo takes on the guitar, vocals...

How do you go about mixing...?

I was just wondering about when you have multiple songs to work on. Is it a better idea to go through and do all of the drums first, then guitars, etc, so you remember all of the eq cuts/compression or any other effects to make the songs all more similar, or is it a better idea to do each song...

    Shure 55?

My friend said he picked up a Shure 55 lately and wanted to know if it was any good for recording vocals. I can't find any information about it on the Shure site, possibly because it's an old mic or possibly because I'm blind. Can anyone help me out with this? Christopher

    My first full recording:

Okay, here's the deal: I've been tracking, re-recording, etc, for the last few weeks to get this all down. I put my drum track up earlier and got some tips to getting it to sound better, thanks to everyone that helped me on that. Here's the entire mp3, now. I just finished the vocals and...

I searched the board but couldn't find any. Can you guys give me some good links for building a 4x10 speaker cab? Christopher

How to get a certain sound? (ATTN: Justin Hayatt)

I'm going to link you to a song by one of my favorite bands. If you guys get a chance to listen to it could you give me ideas about how you think they recorded it? My band is looking for the same sound; aggressive in nature, loud, punchy backing vocals, etc. I want mostly to know how they...

    Good software compressors

I searched, but to no avail. List me some. Which are your favorites? Which ones suck? Price? Linkage? Christopher

My first attempt to record drums.

Didn't know if this would go in here or mixing/mastering or the drums section. Whatever. I recorded this today. Came home and didn't really tweak anything. I'm sure there are 400 things wrong with it, and since I don't really notice I want you guys to say 'hey fucker, cut this, boost this...
