Hi,
Basically...my band are about to start recording for an LP we've/I've written, which is 11 tracks. Some fans have been asking for an EP to be released this year so the question is...are the EP tracks exclusive to the EP? I've got some songs that aren't on the album (because it's themed) but...
Just got a SM57 for micing my guitar amp BUT I was thinking I could sue it for vocals aswell and save me buying a Sm58 or whatever. For a pop filter, would this do the trick without negatively affecting the sound? Shure PS-6 Popper Stopper | DV247
Cheers :)
Hi, I wondered if anyone could help me - I've got a Tascam 488 and when I rewind the cassette to the beginning of the track, it seems to be rewinding slower than usual and takes quite a while to return to zero...
I'm using TDK SA60s and I tried it with a different brand of cassette and it...

Like the recording newb I am, I bought a Tascam 488 without knowing much about it! Do I need an external master recorder? I think the obvious answer is yes, but what one - like a USB one or an analogue one?
Has anyone ever done one - vlogging I think it's called... If so, what d'you say in it?? I don't want to appear too cliched if you get me...I was also thinking of getting someone to do a video interview as it might seem less contrived. So yeah, has anyone ever done anything like it?
The Sand Band - All Through The Night - 8mm Album Promo Video - YouTube @ 15 seconds in... It said in the sleevenotes that they used a Tascam 488 but it's not one of those :S
I mean as in quality wise - if I were to use a 1/4 from a mic into a pedal, and then a 1/4 from the pedal to a PA in the live setting, would the sound be of a lesser quality than just using an XLR straight into the mixer?
He's singing through a C1000 - aside from his singing style, is this what's getting that distortion-like quality? Kind of lo-fi... or is it something other than the mic i.e. the recorder?
Hi all,
If anyone has a spare moment could you evaluate my band?

i.e. if you were a stranger to the band (which you probably are anyway!) what are your impressions? are the songs good? what's the image like? likely to become successful? how/what to...
Hi all,
I've getting some stuff together to do a few demos and so far I've got a Tascam 488 and I need some decent headphones/microphones/monitors. I have a rough idea of what headphones to get, microphones I'm thinking 2 x SM57s (for guitars) and an SM58 or even an SM58 beta (for vocals). I...
Really pleased with it so far and it came with the original box/instructions at a great price.
Could any please advise me...what do I need to get started? I'm hoping to go down a local studio when I've got to grips with it and use their mics/room for recording but will I need anything else? I'm...
I know this was done in a BBC studio, but does anyone have any idea how it would have been recorded? Could a similar sound be achieved on a cassette portastudio (tascam 488)??
If anyone has heard of 'Soothing Music for Stray Cats', it was recorded on an 8 track portastudio and it sounds great..if anyone could recommend one it would be much appreciated :)
Apologies as this sort of thread has probably been flogged to death but I've been recommended a small diaphragm condenser for getting this sort of acoustic sound:
What models should I be looking at? Preferably below £100 if possible! Cheers
you may be familiar with my analogue posts! However, I recently came across this and THIS is the sound I am after! What would need to get it? Say I was starting from scratch with just a guitar ie so what mics, desk, or whatever...by the way it was recorded with one guy on acoustic and vocals...
