hey! i heard that to record from a cab you can take a behringer xm8500 mic (a5$ buy), get the grill out and put it off-axis on the speaker and it will sound just as any 300$ mic. Heard it from a professional. any thoughts about it? thnx!

hi! i planned to buy the mxl 990 and 991 kit and use it for overheads, miking guitar cab and do the vocals for a couple of bands, but i read in another topic these mics where boxy. any suggestion for the same kind of price mics? thnx!
