Hey guys,
This summer I worked on some solo music I had been wanting to do for a long time. I recorded all the drums, guitars, bass, vocals, and produced it myself. There are 12 tracks on the cd with some acoustic shorts in between. I am DYING for constructive criticism. Im not doing this for...
Okay! So, I found noisevault's stash of IR's, however, every file I download seems to be corrupt just specifically from this site, does anyone know the remedy for this?
Of the mixing/performance/whatever
this myspace link is to recordings I made last year when I was 18
the music could be generic, but I really don't show my music to many people so i would like honest opinions of other home recording engineers
thanks :)

alright
so here is this song idea i had
the playing is not really very tight because i did a recording right after i had the idea and im not able to re record it anytime because im up at college right now
but im looking for suggestions on this song, not mixing wise but musically/vocally...
When mixing,i start off having the kick drum peak at 0 DB which is probably a bad idea but anyway. As tracks get added the mix clips when the master fader is at 0
i was wondering if turning down the masster fader to make sure the signal is not clipping is sufficient? or would turning down all...
i have recently purchased a new amp
its a peavey valveking head used but only for a couple months for 400
and a used b-52 at 412 cab for 300 the valveking head actually sounds reall good out of this cab, and so have other heads i have tried on it like a JCM 2000 DSL, Marshall AVT 150, some...
What gives the onyx premps the advantage when recording through a 400f or a 800r into a daw. Some people say that the quality blows motu out of the water
but there converters are comparable in dynamic range 111 db for motu and 113 for mackie, so what makes it so good?
if i were to purchase the 8 channel onyx preamps the onyx 800r and hooked it up to my motu 896HD through adat
this would be like 2 mackie 400f's with the motus preamps as well?
so my friend from guitar center hooked me up with a pair of DBX RTA i think omnidirectional mics. they are SICK i had never heard of dbx making mics before and i had my doubts but i tried them as overheads and it was magnificent.i really just have to say it is a splendid mic, and i was wondering...
i just bought a motu 896 hd
let me say first off its sick and it has an audible difference in quality from the firepod even though i jsut bought it mainly for its expansionn feature
anyways, i want to start refcording in 192khz, i know it has those capabiliuties but i cant get the headphones set...
im unclear about using different preamps with interfaces
i understand that some preamps have digital outs such as ADAT aes and spdif but
lets say you want an improvement in sound so you buy a better preamp, can you plug the output of the preamp into the line in on an interface and get better...
i currently have a presonus firepod and will be selling it
im looking for a new computer interface
either firewire or pci
that has a good amount of iunputs but also great converters
basically anything a step up from the firepod quality wise
my budget is around 1600 dollars
any recommendations?
im familiar with the fact it comes with a pci card
but i dont understand how im supposed to monitor my mixes or use headphones
because
there are no main outs on the thing
or a headphone out
can anyone help me on figuring this system out
tell me what you think about this song
as a whole
im aware that the vocals are so-so
and it slows down a tad at 0:50 and the keyboard is sloppy
but i would love input :D
i just recently found it on ym computer frlom like april

so this song im mixing for my band
the kick is really horrible
im willing to take the time
since i dont have a sampler
i do have a kick sample and i was thinking to make a zillion copies and position it right with the other hits, ive done liek half a song so far in half an hour and it sounds...
is there any other advantage to having quad wrap cables other than regular tri wrap cables other than reduced noise?
and to be more specific i was thinking about purchasing blue quad wrap cables because mogamis are jsut too pricey
when i save my audio mixdowns and then play them back in another program such as itunes they seem to have lost quite a bit of their punchiness
why is this so?
