I pulled out my DMP-2 today after long disuse, and it's really crackling with distortion.
Is there a simple trouble-shoot for this? I tried cleaning connectors, etc...don't have many spare cables to try swapping out...what else?
I picked one up cheap - anybody ever use one?
It's a Hi-Z cardiod with the power switch at the base, then a foot-long gooseneck to the capsule end - looks like a school public address type of mic.
What info I could find on Geloso made me think that this was made by another company for use with...
I was recently gifted with a sweet, pristine older Onkyo cassette recorder (TA-R240), sans manual, and would like to using it for recording VO tracks, with the option of dumping them later to my computer for conversion to AIFF/WAVE/MP3 files if needed.
The machine has Dolby B & C, LED peak...
Mine was a 1/8" portable reel-to-reel tape recorder, back in about 1969, a gift from my dad, who had divorced my mom and now lived across the country. It was meant to be used for correspondence, and I think we exchanged a few tapes for a while.
It had a seperate compartment inside that held the...
I recently happened into a DMP2 (or so), and I'm really thrilled with what it's doing for my motley assortment of cheap dynamic mics - some stuff I thought was unusable actually has some interesting character, given enough clean gain.
However, I don't have any condenser (or ribbon....sigh) mics...
Since so many voiceover studios (home and otherwise) like to use shotgun mics for promos & movie trailers, I've been looking at adding one to my locker at some point, and been checking them out online.
Some of the shotguns have dual power sources - phantom power or battery. So how does a mic...
...what do you all think about the Shure SM55?
I mean, when would you use it? Sure, it's a vocal mic, but what kind of vocals? Crooners? Screamers? Does it suck for instruments? Is it warm? Bulletproof? Live? Recording?
They are so beautiful...it'd be great to be able to justify adding another...
Has anybody used this card?
Am thinking that it might make my pokey old G3 Blue & White a workable recording machine for basic VO work. I'm thinking something like a real simple PVC & blanket vocal booth, a mic>preamp>soundcard chain to Audacity or GarageBand - ought to get the job done with...
I've got an old Mac G3 Blue & White 400MHz, running OS 10.3.7, that I was thinking about making a dedicated machine for recording (vocals only).
I was planning to pick up an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 (or Delta 44), but in looking over the specs on M-Audio's site, it seems that none of their...
I touched on this briefly in another thread, but here's the question -
to obtain the beautiful tube mic sound that I'm so lusting after, is it equally important (or not important) to use a tube preamp as well as tube mic?
What happens with, say, tube mic and standard preamp?
Or, non-tube LDC...
I've been listening to a lot of LDCs lately, trying to figure what sounds good to my tastes for my voice, and am finding that I really love the sound of tube microphones.
That led me to checking out the MXL-V69, which is invariably sold in the Mogami edition, with case, Mogami cables, power...
I'm slowly putting together a home studio for doing voiceover work, and although I've been doing a lot of research, and following existing threads, I don't think I've see this come up yet. (If so, please forgive my redundancy.)
I have a couple of serviceable dynamic mics (older Audio Technica &...
