    yamaha mx400 mixer

theres one of these used at a guitar center here that is about $500 (i'm sure i can talk them down to make it 500 with sales tax included). its the 24 channel version which is probably more than i'll ever need but i'll deal with it. has anybody had luck with these? the search didn't come up with...

    any experience with the d160?

does anybody on here have any advice/warning/reviews/compliments for the fostex d160? its pretty much exactly what i'm looking for in the second hand market. the only thing i don't really like is that the inputs are RCA (is using a converter a sound quality issue?) and it only records at 16bit...

    new mix, punk band

http://www.hxcmp3.com/the_calas_affair just finished a slight remix from the one i posted on these boards earlier. recorded with subpar mics through subpar preamps into a subpar soundcard. drums are mono. its been quite a fun experience trying to make it sound good :)

reccommend me some directx mastering plugins

its obviously not going to be a pro result so i'm not gonna pretend thats what i want. i just want some (trials) to play around with on this mix to see if i can get a result i like. i've got a mix that sounds like it could use a decent deal of clarity and some of the lowend needs to be tightened...

easiest way to record 6-8 tracks

i'm looking for some sort of solution for recording 6 or maybe even 8 tracks at once. i've been looking at the fostex vf160 which records 8 at once.. but i know all i'm gonna do is put the tracks on my computer and mix it there, so 99% of the fostex's features are useless to me. i don't have a...

    my hardcore band's demo

i'm satisfied with this but i'm not blown away. i recorded it using a shure bg5.0 as an overhead (which picked up way too many cymbals), a cad tsm411 on the snare, and a cad kbm412 on the kick (on the beater side which was a huge mistake since it got a lot of snare bleed). for guitars i used the...

help me out with this budget set of mics!

hey, my band has some shows coming up next weekend so we're gonna lay down drum tracks for our demo tomorrow. its kind of in a hurry and most of my mics are 5 hours away. what i've got to work with is this audio technica dr-vx1 - we have 2 of these, they're pretty low budget dynamics, 60-12k...
