New Song - One Hell of a Ride

A little twang for the shutdown. I think I want to bring this one to my band. All comments welcomed. Thnx mucho, One Hell of a Ride by Irish Pirate | Free Listening on SoundCloud One Hell of a Ride You're going forward I'm going back Somewhere in the middle This love runs out of track You...

    crossfade

I don't see where you have any of the clips highlighted. The X isn't going to work unless you select the two overlapping clips. The stitch area means there is one clip on top of the other, but they are not crossfaded. In the pic here, I have almost a whole measure of overlap. That's way more...

    crossfade

Crossfade on the timeline is easy. You have two clips. Make them overlap in the region where you want the crossfade. Select both clips by holding the Shift key and clicking on the tracks. Then hit the X to make the crossfade. Oh, be sure to turn off the Snap function so you can set the overlap...

One of These Days - new original

Got another one I've been working on. I can't hear the cymbals at all, so please tell me if they fit in okay. I think the guitars might be a little brazened. All comments welcomed. Thnx One of These Days by Irish Pirate | Free Listening on SoundCloud 2nd Mix One of These Days mix 2 by Irish...

New song - Woke Up Dead

I would appreciate some ears on this tune. The shutdown gave me time to get some ideas recorded. I think I hear some problems with this one, but will wait to see if others confirm. Woke Up Dead by Irish Pirate | Free Listening on SoundCloud Thanks.

If you're planning to put your tunes to video, then 48khz is a good idea. If you're just going to be making MP3s or CD's and keep it all in the audio realm, then 44.1khz is good. But be consistent across the board. I break my own rule and do 44.1khz for everything whether it goes to video or...

Glad to hear that fixed it. Glad to know what that button does. I didn't get a chance to test it last night. We had our last neighborhood happy hour before lockdown last night. Priorities!! You can set your buffer to a lower setting. Mine is at 256 or 512, or something. But honestly, that delay...

Probably someone who knows Reaper can help to show you where to look to see if you are direct monitoring or not. Did you try recording with the input compensation delay off? I'm curious to see how that works. I'll give it a go myself later tonight.

No latency with just the Console program. That tells me you are listening to the recorded track in Reaper when you're recording the bass and not the direct monitoring from the UAD Apollo. I might be wrong, but that is the most common cause of latency type delays like you're seeing. I'm not...

Okay so, you can hear the latency as you're recording? You hit the string and half a second later, you hear the audio (or whatever the delay is) So, what happens when you play the bass with the UAD and you do not have Reaper running? Like, completely shut down Reaper and just use the UAD and...

Do you hear any latency while you're recording? Or is it only after you recorded and you're playing it back that the bass track doesn't line up? Stupid questions, I know, but I want to get a better understanding.

How are you monitoring the bass track as you are recording it? When you record the bass, are you listening to the bass track after it goes through the DAW? or are you listening to the bass through the UAD monitor mix in Console? In the 2nd video, the Input source for the bass says HD Audio...

Falling out of time with what? There is no reference to time unless you're talking about tempo... if so, no real means to measure tempo unless I pull out a metronome... Which I ain't doing. It all sounds fine to me.

Is there a particular method key or scale you like to write in?

For me, no real method. It is whatever strikes me first, whether that is a melody line, a lyric, a guitar riff or a chord progression. From there I flesh it out to see what becomes of it. A few times i have something I want to say and try to write a song around it, like in a deliberate...

Oh cool. Try the demo versions of the different bass amp sims. Yeah, I agree. I thought the guitar was just a tad too loud, but drums and bass were well balanced. Any tweaks would be a matter of personal preference. Maybe bring the bass up a little more; that would be my preference.

Direct Inputs (DI) In or Out are usually line level signals. Most, if not all, audio interfaces can accept them. Or you can plug you bass directly into the interface with the Instrument jack. Which interface are you recording with?

Same here. Always DI. Never record through an amp. Ok, take that back, I recorded some gigs and ran a DI out of the amp into the mixer. But for home recording, never use an amp. I used to do the same as Miro where I didn't use an amp sim. I went DI, added some hard compression and a little EQ...

Level not matching visual of track

Honestly, don't worry about the size of the waveform in the track editor. It is probably due to different gains on the individual tracks. Just use the faders to adjust volume to get all your tracks to mesh up nicely. Make sure you're not clipping on the input of the track you're recording...

    Recording Cover Band Live Gig

I haven't really been doing much recording lately and haven't posted anything here in quite a while. My attention has been absorbed with two gigging bands and putting on shows. But the opportunity came up where we needed to record a gig for my 'Dad band" for a promo video. The gig is done and I...

    I Built a Tele! :-) (Pic Heavy)

Of course I do. lol There are some problems and real goof-ball mistakes made on the fretless. I won't go into details. I have yet to really put myself back into it to fix them, been too busy playing. Someday I will. The fretted bass is fun to play and has a nice wide palette of tones.
