    Killing floor

Keep it simple seems to work best. One mic. Your retake definitely sounds better. I have very little experience micing an amp, I've been mostly in the box. But that might change soon, so I'll be in here looking for tips when I'm ready!!

    Killing floor

Hey, great work. Always dig your guitar jams. Reminds me of some of the blues bands I used to go see here in Austin, back in the day. This one could easily go up on a local radio station playing home spun music. The one stand out for me was the lead solo guitar doesn't fit in the same space as...

    New Build

Red body, gold trim. Nice. Next project, build the body from scratch. Then project after that, build the neck. That's where I'm stuck at. I've been building a fretless bass for the last couple of years and trashed 3 necks so far. lol

Can anyone help me achieve this tone??

I thought I heard some slapback delay in there as well. Basic clean tone with a little bit of crunch from the amp. Sounds like a strat in the between position for middle and bridge.

    Rupert Neve Dies at 94

So much of his contributions are felt throughout the industry. Geez, he lived an hour down the road and not one mention in the local news. And this is a music town. :( RIP

    Boot hill

Sounds good. Panning issues fixed. I still think there is work to be done with getting the bass and kick to fit together. The bass kinda dominates the low end. After that, it's good, like Bulls said, sounds like it was recorded in the 60s with an original vibe.

    Boot hill

And just because you had it cranked when recording, I had to do the same when listening. The amp sounds wonderful. The break-up on the low freqs don't get too wooly and the high end has a nice controlled scream to it. What guitar did you use? For the mix, eh, I'm not enamored with the panning...

Ashton Microphone / Apollo Twin issue

Are you near a broadcast tower? If so, check your cables. If not, then maybe even more details of the problem is needed. Like, what else is the mic picking up? You said "including the tv’s neighborhours" (which I'm assuming you mean the neighbor's tv) How does it sound when you speak or sing...

Shouldn't you be asking BeatStars? basic and exclusive licensing seems to be only relevant to their services.

when is it time to stop buying old cheaper rack gear?

I just sold off the last of my "rack gear", not that I had a lot to begin with. Just recently sold my UAD Apollo 2 Duo which was a rack mount interface and downsized to the Apollo Twin USB. It's all I need anymore. Just this thing. So, I say the time is now. Stop buying old junk!!! :D

Would you consider buying a used microphone post COVID?

Cool. Thanks for sharing that. Might be something to consider for live use. Covid or not.

OMG! Where To Put All This Gear?

I have a 9x10 ft room. I built a J-shaped desk that wraps around 3 sides. The studio is not only my little man-cave, but it's also my office for work. My work stuff is on the long side of the J desk, and my music stuff is along the bottom of the J shape. I keep my piano/kybrd on the back wall...

Would you consider buying a used microphone post COVID?

Umm, I would be careful with that. the flash point is extremely low... 11c. The vapor cloud is invisible and can migrate quickly throughout your room. Any little spark from anything could cause it to ignite. Best to just wipe it down instead of vaporizing IPA. Or drink whiskey.

Would you consider buying a used microphone post COVID?

Alcohol kills viruses. Drink whiskey before singing. All kidding aside, I wouldn't have a problem with purchasing a used mic. If you have doubts, you can wipe it with isopropyl alcohol. or simply leave it in the sun for a few hours. The UV light will kill the virus, too.

DIY MIDI CC Controller w/100mm sliders for under $100

Funny this thread popped back up, I recently finished my MIDI DMX light controller. I used the Teensy 3.2 board, a few switches and LED's. There was code already written for the board, but I learned some of it then customized it to fit my purposes. The second pic shows what my brain must...
