    Multiple USB interfaces?

I have multiple interfaces connected and though they can't, AFAIK be configured (at this time) to work in conjunction with any single instance of opened DAW software that I know of, they can both be connected and working through different applications at the same time. If you have two different...

    Mixing Meter

I mostly use it for stuff I can't hear anymore and occasionally to help locate a frequency that is bothering me. I agree it can't help you if you don't already understand what you are listening to though.

    Direct Boxes

oooh, I bought one in late 2020. I am with rob on this, plays great, its light and fast. I come up with cool parts easily on mine. Have yet to DI it. Always through the amp so far.

    Recording Heavy Guitars; Crackling Noise

A A condenser mic is great for getting the sound of the amp "in the room" including reflections, et al. For iso type mic'ing, a dynamic close to the grille, or a ribbon 10-15 " from the speaker both work great. Crackling like you have described sounds like possible cable and/or connection...

    Direct Boxes

I have found that any direct box or a compressor before the interface gives me a much better DI bass sound, regardless of the bass involved. I have an old ProCo passive that I bought to use back in the days of tape and I also have two cheap as hell actives that work just as well. Radial and...

    Strings

tried a bunch now I use Erie Ball mostly but frankly I am not too precious about the name, just get the right gauge and I'm ok.

    Thin sounding recordings

One thing I noticed is the difference in delays. Delayed guitars and/or wideners will cause slight comb filtering that reduces lower mids. Out of phase issues will also cause this.

Layering exact same sound to add volume?

Depending on your DAW you can use sends to increase the volume of a track. Send to an aux or two. Make the output send volume ~0 db then just add volume by raising the aux volume(s) to taste.

    Which should I choose?

Just curious, which pickup does not have a tone control on yours?

    Which should I choose?

whereas I only roll off the tone on a bridge pickup never on a neck.

    Which should I choose?

So the bridge pickup on the SSS does not have a tone control(the tone knobs work on the middle and neck pickups only) and is VERY bright. It is not used very often on it's own because of these characteristics. I have SSS, two SSD and a DD and though I love the SSS sound I almost never use the...

Have you ever recorded something so bad the client says forget it?

IMHO making music should be enjoyable. I mean, sure, songwriting can be cathartic and lot's of people sort of get out their emotional baggage that way. But getting together with others to create should be fun and bugger anyone who isn't serious about the work and happy to do it.

    Sound treatment around the drums

They have acoustic shields for drums however it's almost impossible to avoid resonance from drums (esp snare rattle) with amps in the same room. I would look to do at much damping at the drums as possible.

    The Ears of a mixer

I have a bit of sensitivity in the upper mids so even commercial releases sound a bit harsh to me on my studio monitors (JBL 8s with sub), though they sound fine on consumer products. In order to have my mixes have a similar eq I have a slight dip in that area of the input to my monitors, that...

L-20 Livetrak Not Showing in Pro Tools (no audio from computer either)

Not enough info actually. I would recommend going to www.duc.avid.com, read the "help us help you" sticky and see if they can help. Just as a guess to give possible outs before you head there: if you are on any kind of windows system (I am guessing so since you mentioned "line" and "audio...

Getting my music through the living-room hifi

I have mini TRS to split L/R RCA jack cables. The average "Aux" input will handle the "headphone" output of a computer, phone or MP3 player just fine. I can load a WAV or MP3 320 onto a thumb drive and transfer to a laptop or phone, tablet, what have you and connect it directly to one of the aux...
