I swapped the 2 991's with eachother so it's not the cable or the pre. It has a swoosh up about -41 to -24 db whereas the other 991 is only down around -66 to -42, usually pretty low. I'm still using it for loud source, but I have to do something. Call mxl? I think it's been under a year...
There are so many and not that far apart in price.
Maybe the hardware compatability is what to base it on?
Do many of them have free versions like Protools free? (only on win98, btw)
It amazes me how many there are, and how many interfaces there are.
Maybe people start on one and...
I've realized that, at least for my ears and brain, that I have to work with a mic for a while and listen to it for a while before I can really get an idea how it sounds. I need time for it to sink in, short clips just won't make that impression on me.
I just heard some stuff out of a mic that...
many have probably seen this already, but I didn't until now, I was searching for something on google and found it....

What does your track look like when you compare it to a grid of bars/beats?
Mine doesn't line up perfectly, I'm on one side or the other by a small amount. Sometimes a lot, and then I have to nudge a few beats over.
What is this in relation to the groove?
I'm often playing sooner than the...
I have a drum track I need to define the transients into regions, slice them up for adusting in PT free on win98. I need to save the work of manually defining all those beats into regions, gotta fix em....
Let's hear your best porn soundtrack production - or '70's funky cop show track - basically the same thing.
I don't know where mine is, it's what it all sounded like back when I started w dubbing b/c all I did was 12 bar bluesy stuff w/ a drum machine.
Just wondering who it was, I couldn't find any sales that high for a single or an album. Looks like Eagles are at the top w/ 28 million for greatest hits.
Tried this mic out today and liked it. Pretty good deal for $40, but no adaptor included to mount it, luckily I used one I have that fits it fine, same threads as MXL.
My tests were all male vocal very close w acoustic guitar in the background
nice case, but I'd rather have a mount.
where can we find info on what line levels are electrically? Like what are the volatge ranges of a mic capsule, and electric guitar, other transducers, then the amplification in the mic body, guitar effects, other effects units, mixers, mixer and rack preamps, outs from pres down the line to...
It looks like these have been around for a long time, not sure how long, but I was surprised to see that they are still available new. It has a nice sound, no noticeable noise, and some adjustments.
What's the consensus on this thing, and what compares or is better?
I think I got a good deal...
Rarely is the first draft the final version.
The problem in believing this is in all of the stories we hear of how people wrote a song in 3 minutes or woke up and wrote it and went back to sleep. Those people usually have been writing for so many years, that their subconscious has taken over...
I'm starting to have some problems with a nice old Onkyo single cd player I've had for 15 years. Are there lens cleaners or whatever for cd players? Does anyone use these things if they exist?
It seems people keep coming up with this info on who said and did what lately and thu history. I search the web but maybe not the right searches. Just wondering where all this good stuff is coming from....
I don't know, are the Mackie pre's fabricated by them? Or are they using something very close or similar to or farming out or using 3rd party that we can get our hands on ~ affordably. Considering the decent price of their mixers, the pres alone 'could' be extremely affordable....just a thought.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this mastering 'lab.' I would guess you used it only b/c you were having ur cd's manufactured there?
Does anyone have good luck with the budget/home 'mastering' and finalizing hardware or software?
I'd like to see what I can do with it before I send my stuff off to be actually Mastered.
My point in this exercize is to see what I can come up with for my non-release material, ie: jams, posts...
