How to get bass to sound like this

So since phasers, chorus, etc. have been brought up, the question must be raised: Do you have access to a higher quality* rip of the track? Your original posted version only goes to 480p; at that level, YT drastically downsamples audio. The full album rip goes up to 720, which is better quality...

How do I play along with songs I like?

I've always found tabs to be pretty hit or miss. What I do these days is pull up a tab for a guideline. Then I pull up the song and listen for the bass part. Go piece by piece, even note by note as needs be. As I go, I transcribe it in a way that is more intuitive. Then I play back along with...

How to get bass to sound like this

Broke 80s punk band with a dry, lows heavy tone? It's probably a DI Probably a very cheap bass. Based on the lack of attack and sustain, it might even be fretless. He's playing in the higher registers in general too.

    Effects for a monster voice?

Well, if the client is happy, and you're able to get the work done, the flanger should be good. If you want to continue experimenting for your own entertainment or artistic growth, that's also a very positive thing to do.

My mix feels loaded, any help?

You might want to ask a mod to move this to the mp3 clinic. I'm noticing that everything is trying to be in the center - both panning wise and in terms of EQ. Pan some things out a little bit, and notch out the mid frequencies on a lot of the instruments.

    Effects for a monster voice?

I'm noticing a lot of distortion in the down-pitched version. You might get better results for that particular effect by delivering the line faster and then slowing it down to lower the pitch.

    Best place to buy gear?

I ordered some gear for a friend in prison a few months back and asked Sweetwater not to include the candy since that might interfere with the package going through. Since then, I haven't gotten any candy in my own orders. :(

    Effects for a monster voice?

"Otherworldly" would suggest an effect that the human voice can't naturally do. Applying reverse reverb might be a simplest way to go about it. If you wanna work way too hard at it: record her lines, reverse the recording, re-record yourself saying the reversed version, reverse that. (a la...

How to make my VO sound like its a voicemail?

Depending on what era of voicemail you're going for, there are a lot of aspects to what degraded the audio quality. What I would do personally is downsample the recording to 10 or 20 kHz. I might also HPF the recording. Then record it to a low-quality tape and record that back into your DAW...

I'm looking for a good starter vocal mic for under $300 USD - is it possible?

Honestly, get the 57 and two other $100 mics. The 57 is a good mic for a lot of applications, especially micing amps, and having multiple mics gives you more options and more ability to experiment and find out what exactly you like about the different mics.

    Noise track subtraction

The term you probably want to look for is "phase cancellation" rather than "subtract". The way it works is that you invert the wave shape of one track. Then, when you add it to the original track, the waves cancel each other out. That said, your "noise" track needs to be almost identical to the...

    Old school drum recordings

There's a lot that goes into this kind of recording: room treatment is one part of it, but that won't really affect the hats being too loud. Mic placement is obviously critical. Technique will be one of your biggest hurdles. If the hats are too loud, it's likely they're being hit too hard. You...

    CD Baby?

I also use DK. I've found them pretty responsive to customer support inquiries. Unless you're paying extra for it, none of these platforms are going to do any real marketing. They're just going to post your music to the stores.

How Can I Enhance My Tracks Even Further To Approach Studio Quality (using Reaper)

BSG has it pretty well summarized. For the genre, room mics wouldn't be too complex. Have the drummer play. Walk around the room until you find the place where the kit sounds the best. Set up two identical mics perpendicular to each other. Usually, you'll get bad results if your room doesn't...

How Can I Enhance My Tracks Even Further To Approach Studio Quality (using Reaper)

Since when is black metal supposed to sound like a studio production? :D Anyway. In general, you probably want more room mic and less close mic on your drums. Some of those tom fills in your demo are very wide, but they're also very close, which is weird for the genre. Most of the width on the...

Recording sound from an amp using a microphone - good idea?

This! Unless you're incredibly zoomed in on the Y-axis (which is not the default if you didn't do it on purpose), you're clipping all over the place

Recording sound from an amp using a microphone - good idea?

Putting a mic in front of the speaker is historically the most common way to record amps. If you decide to go that route, I would look up some tutorials and mic reviews to figure out what will work best for you. (There are basically unlimited configurations of specific mic, location relative to...

Is this microphone good enough for recording male vocals?

Lol, that is absolutely true, but I'm never gonna encourage home recordists to intentionally aim low for mp3s!
