I'm having sustain problems on my high E string. The rest of the guitar is awesome, I love it (Guild S70A-D). It works for everything I want to do, which covers a WIDE rantge of styles. I never cared too much about this problem (notes on the high e string die out quickly), because I was never...
I bought the korg floor tuner about a month ago -- no one here could give me advice on it, muct be a new product. I chose it because it has a better display than the boss and was $20 cheaper. I like it very much after using, but there's one problem: if I leave my guitar plugged into it, it...
Some friends and I went out to see a local band last night, and the guitar player spent the night sawing away on the same solos we've heard on the records (they were a cover band) a million times or more. I argued that this was really dull, and that I wish the guy would just be himself and be...
I have an older roland, a JV 80. I like it a lot, and I have a cool pcm card in it I love. However, the buttons are starting to go. I really have to mash them pretty brutally to get them to work. Is there any hope for them, or should I just continue mashing until they die completely?
I'm using protools 5.3.1 I know it's old, but hey, it does the job. I've gotten to the point in my recording that I'm interested in some mastering plugins. I'm hoping to compensate a little for the drastic (to my ears) loss in quality when I go from a 24-bit mixing environment to a 16-bit CD...
OK, today I got my RNC and I'm having a blast, but so far I'm only going right into the RNC, then out to the Digi 001. What's the best way to hook it to the digi so that I can use the RNC's awesomeness on any given track I choose? I only want the "wet," compressed signal getting through, but...
When I run my sm57 through my preamp, I can't get it near my amp (line 6 spyder) without this annoying hum. However, when I use my gt55 in the exact same way, no hum. Is it because the sm57 is dynamic and the gt55 is condenser? Is it my preamp (presonus tube pre)?
I've decided I don't want to spend more than 100 on a tuner, though I plan to have a strobe one day. Is there any appreciable difference in quality between the Korg or Bopss floor pedal? Right now I'm leaning Korg because it has more LED's, but I'd like to hear from people who've actually used...
I have a digi 001, and I understand the preamps may not be so hot, so I'm thinking about getting outboard pre's or a channel strip. But someone suggested I also get new converters. Pardon my ignorance, but if I get new converters, what do i need the digi for? I mean, what is the digi other...
I bought my GT55 years ago, before I really had any idea how to research this stuff. I like it pretty well, and it does stuff my sm57 cannot. Just out of curiosity, is this mic any good, or should I be thinking upgrade? I paid $350 for this and a presonus tube pre (which looks cool and... um...
I use a digi 001, love it, never saw any (affordable) reason to upgrade, the thing is a horse. My question is, how dire is my need for a preamp? The front two channels sound pretty OK to me, but I might not know what I'm missing. I'm talking about using mics, a Groove Tubes GT55 and an SM57...
I'm buying a tuner. What significant adventages do I sacrifice if I opt for a floor pedal (korg has a swell one, or boss) instead of a rackmount? Thanks.
What is the cheapest respectable outboard compressor, to be used for tracking and later to help master the whole mix? Has anyone tried the alesis 3630? I'm suspicious because it's so cheap, but does it work?
I have received a cheap little tube preamp (presonus tube pre) which seems to do nothing. I have heard replacing the tube will improve it drastically, but there are so many freaking tubes I have no idea where to start. Can anyone reccommend a good replacement for cheap? I want to use it for...
