    Krunk blows

I had to mix a Krunk show and holy shit did I pick the wrong night to run out of weed. I never thought rap could actually devolve but apparently it has. I think Krunk was madeup by all the guys in the posse who couldn't rap but would just double a line or two. Now they have 4 or 5 of these...

    Sidechain in SX 1?

Is there anyway to setup a sidechain on a compressor or gate in SX 1? Can you create a groove map and use the midi info to trigger any of the gates? 'Sidechain' doesn't even show up on the help index. Bastards.

    Need some fresh ears

I'm remixing a couple songs to show to a small label so I can try and get some work from them. My place sucks for mixing and I'm getting burned out on these songs from all the A/B testing so I need some fresh ears. Please be as critical as you like. The original mixes were done by a good...

    Cotton Canvas for Absorber Covers?

Has anyone tried using unprimed blank cotton canvas for an absorber cover? You can get the stuff pretty cheap. http://www.reuels.com/reuels/page29.html You could also make the absorbers into cool artwork. I'm assuming that if you paint on an unprimed canvas you'll still have a pretty loose...

    Rock project final mixes

We just got the mixes back from a fairly well known mixing engineer and I think he did a pretty good job. My main CD player and computer both died yesterday so I haven't had a chance to listen to them with a sub so let me know what you think of the low end. I'm thinking it's a touch heavy so...

Heads up on a good DVD burner deal

I picked up an Iomega Super DVD burner at Best Buy for $170 after a $30 rebate (we'll see if I actually get a check). It burns and reads ALL formats of DVD. +/-, R, RW, RAM, CDR, CDRW. I was looking for one a few months ago and to get that compatability was well over $300. DVD RAM is really...

    HR.COM Exclusive - Q&A With 'Spoon'

This is an email interview conducted with Mike McCarthy, Producer of Spoon's albums 'Girls Can Tell' and 'Killing the Moonlight'. If you haven't heard any of their songs check them out for you own good. Both albums are tight productions with a great British pop sound that doesn't try to be too...

Finally got a rock band in here

Here's a rough mix from an album I'm producing for this pretty cool local band. It's the first rock project with the new gear but I like the way it's shaping up. I was mainly worried about pulling off a big drum sound but this drummer is pretty killer. I've been having a hard time getting a...

    Senn E602 Kick Mic... WOW!

I've never been happy with my kick sound. I've been mainly using an ATM125 and it always just sounded floppy. I've done the bass tunnel trick and stuck a LD at the other end and that helped fill it out but I still wasn't excited. I had pretty much resolved myself to triggering kick samples...

    HRC - Current Project

I've got a couple tunes for the raw tracks challenge. This is an album I'm working on for an Aussie blues player Earl Douglas. We've recorded a bunch of guitars and vocals that may or not be replaced and he's currently trying to find a good rythm section. I did cheat and use 2db of limiting on...

    Does this song suck?

I'm doing a demo for this chick and I can't decide if I like it or not. Everything I've heard her sing before she sounded really annoying so I tried to make her do something very different. This is an old song I had and we did this first just because it was the only original song we had so far...

    New Generation Masterlink?

I was at GC the other day and was thinking about getting a Masterlink. The sales guy said he heard they are coming out with a new version and that the old ones may get blown out. Anybody know what's up with a new version?

    AVI CDR's on DVD players

Has anybody ever gotten an AVI CDR to play on a DVD player? My dvd player is supposed to do it and I tried a few CDs but was never able to get it to work. My boss wants me to figure out to use a portable DVD player for sales presentations and I wanted to see if AVI was a viable option. I...

    Marshall AVT and distortion

Here is one for any AVT users out there. I've been using a AVT50 half stack for a few months and I finally started recording it and I noticed there is this really crappy buzzy sound with the distortion. At first I thought I had a blown speaker but with carefull adjustment of the gain I was...

getting that "at a "march/protest" speakerphone sound"..

We can't read your post but judging from the topic the answer is probably cut the lows and highs, add some distortion and a few touches of feedback with a generous slap back delay.

    I Need a Man!!!

to build some stuff for me. I was thinking about building some stuff myself but then I remembered I'm a really shitty carpenter and I don't even have much in the way of tools anymore. Instead of spending the money on tools I'd rather just have the stuff built right. Any carpenters in the SW...
