Tom Lord-Alge is currently my hero. i really like the way his stuff sounds and you can usually tell something he did from just one listen. does anyone know anything about things he's known for dooing. how are the low end of his recordings so much more tight and controoled than most stuff i hear?

maby this isn't the best place for this question but..... i'm playing with dvd authoriseing and when i compress audio useing a-pack (an ac3 encoder) it comes out sounding like i used shitty mix compression on it......... but i did not, any one know the deal??? (short of mixing to about -2db)

i finished this recording recently, bridge (it was posted on the mixing clinic) haveing some problems in the subs, so per a suggestion i decided to be a little lazy about it and go to a finished 24bit 48k version and throw a hi pass on it to see if i could solve it the easy way. it was slamed...
