I use the E-MU 0404 soundcard. I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and now my soundcard doesn't work properly. The sound is very distorted. I tried downloading the latest driver and that cured it for a while, then opening Cubase made it go distorted again. Running "Troubleshoot Common...
Here are screenshots of my project window and the mixer. As you see in my mixer when you pull down the input pop-up for the first channel strip, the only thing listed is IN1 + IN2. In the Cubase manual it shows IN1 L IN1 R IN2 L IN2 R IN3 L etc.
Here is a screenshot of my VST Inputs panel in Cubase LE. As you see it hasn't a button for both L and R inputs unless you use AUX or S/PDIF (whatever that is)
I am using Cubase LE with the E-MU 0404 sound system. I upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 and the replayed sound became very distorted, so I updated the driver for the E-MU sound system. This cured the distortion, but now no sound will record in Cubase. In Cubase VST Inputs it shows PCI...
I recently acquired some old recording equipment where the signal is recorded as a wiggly groove on a wax cylinder. I am having some problems trying to record multitrack music on this medium because the groove basicaly only accomodates one audio channel. Also I find the playback quality is not...
seems silly but I've just done something which has caused Mixer to disappear from Cubase. When I click on Mixer it flickers but Mixer does not appear. Turning the computer off and on does not cure it. Mixer has gone from all Cubase projects. I don't want to risk System Restore because I may...
I just want to say that I'm so glad I caught M S Hilarious before he vanished from these forums forever, because he was the only man who knew what he what talking about when it came to in-depth technical issues, and he gave me such valuable technical info about microphones which enabled me to...
Another theory question. A transformer is often used twixt mic and preamp to give voltage gain. Why limit the transformer ratio to 4:1? Why not use say 32:1 giving 30dB lower noise? To avoid loading the mic too much use high value biassing resistors on the opamp such as 470k or 1M. 1M and a...
A couple of theory questions mainly directed at MSH since he's the man with the in-depth knowledge of these things round here (if he would be so kind)
The inamp THAT1512 is specified as 1nV/root Hz noise at gain 1000, and 34nV at gain 1. Would I be correct in assuming it will be 3.2nV at gain...
My AT4022 worked well with my home built preamp using one 5534 with balanced inputs, but the 5534 hiss was too high, so I bought an AD8099 which at .95nV/root Hz is one of the quietest op amps available, much quieter than 5534 at 3.5nV, but when I tested it the AD8099 isn't much quieter than the...
So I've bought an AT4022 microphone, but I havn't got a lead yet.
Some questions: the 3-pin XLRM connector is labelled signal pins 2 and 3, ground pin 1, so I presume 48v supply is to the metal case? Am I right?
And is that +48v or -48v?
I assume it has a voltage regulator to drop 48v to...
Harvey Gerst in his excellent threads says that large diaphragm condenser mics are quieter than small, but how do they compare with dynamic? Is a dynamic mic quieter (less pre amp hiss) than a LDC? I'm having problems comparing mic specs because some mics have a db figure (e.g. -65dB, relative...
I have a mic bought fairly cheaply years ago. It is an omni sdc electret type EM-103L made by Altai. I can't find any data on it anywhere, possibly because it is so cheap it is beneath the notice of serious mic enthusiasts. However I have measured its high frequency response as best I can by...
Most of the discussion here is about microphones for recording music. I want a microphone thats good for recording high quality sound when filming. Presumably it needs to be omnidirectional. I want flat response. I'm guessing small-diaphragm condensor? Am I right? Any recommendations?
Is it possible to Bounce a lot of separate recordings on different tracks together so they appear as one recording on one track? I can't move all the recordings to one track before bouncing because they overlap in time.
I'm using Cubase LE. Is it possible to fine-adjust the metronome? As far as I can see you can only change the time in multiples of 2. I need to adjust the beat very finely to match a piece of music already recorded, which means the beats will not synchronise with the time markings on the...
In Cubase LE I want to glue two tracks together one after the other, and apply a fade-out to the whole length. I glue them together with no join visible, then do the fade, but the fade only affects the first track leaving the second track unfaded. What's wrong?
