JUST A HAIR HOT - as everything is clear but suffering from the pressed glass sonic syndrome. Great tune. Well played, tracked, and mixed. Spot on in the sentiment. We can be so stupid in the country. One guy killed hemp research in the same way this asswipe stifled healthcare for all. It is a...

    Satisfaction

I'd have listened longer, but I had to stop to stem the bleeding out of my eardrums. Yowsers! :D

    Taste of your Love

Generally this is solid. In nitpicking, the click (snare) is a bit too loud and pops through too hard. That is, seriously, the only mix concern that literally "poked out" at me. I'm not a fan of the autotune effects (hard correct) and feel that the melody would sound improved if they were kept...

    Sweet Marguerita

I will check it out - but in this, you'll hear what I was talking about with the gits in your song. I've got these things panned out nearly to 80% L/R w/ 2 instruments. It lets the space in the middle open up for the vocal to sit in. I DO have QUITE a bit of high end on the bass to pop it. It's...

Okay - here's what I'd do: There's too much straight up the wide middle. The guitar and vocal (verse) are competing for the same space ... so what to do is take the guitar out of the middle entirely. Throw it off to the side. Let the vocal sit in the center pocket. If you've multiple guitars...

    Sweet Marguerita

Just finished the remix/remaster of this blues rock shuffle piece (think "Little Feat") and I have a very specific question: Is the mastering "too hot"? Do you "hear" the glass ceiling? Of course, ANY comments about anything are warmly appreciated - but the mastering levels are a little more...

    Overtime

Yeah - likely my fear of "runaway bass" in play again. I hiked it up 3 more db and then rolled it back slightly. Maybe my instincts were correct first time around. Thanks guy!

Morning! Adjustments made in accordance with observations. Thanks again! I think it is improved by the input.

    Overtime

Oh - the clicky thing is a clock - timed/sync'd w/ the song tempo via studio wizardry. The song is about Over "time" - and work - which is why I also included an industrial steam sounding rhythm section. :D

Great thoughts! Totally appreciated. I particularly like your perspective about the levels - and their relativity in the mix. The sax sticks out to me - and I rolled it back into the bed more. Therefore - your comment hits DIRECTLY on a thought process I made a conscious decision about. I also...

As much as I do this, I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself to multi-reference mixes. It is amazing the difference in perspective between monitoring sources. I changed procedure on this dense mix. This is the band I put together in 2016. We recorded an album during Covid. I had mixed it and then...

Mine is a new Hyundai Plug in Hybrid - 2024 - w/ a Bose system. I noticed it's a bit heavy in the low end at default settings - as commercial mixes lean into a low bump as well when I listen. Originally, my mix of this exceeded comparable low end mixes heard on radio stations. I attributed it...

It's funny, Dave. I actually was listening to this in the car - and it may be the system there, but I consciously pulled the areas you mentioned back because I thought it a little too thumpy in the rumpy. I personally like adding a lot of cream (my euphemism for lows) into mixes, but I know I've...

Kind of. I went back into things and swapped everything around for different voicings. For all intent and purpose, the "sounds" are brand new. Great thoughts on the drums, K. I'd wondered if they got a little to "disjointed" and busy during parts of the song - almost like the drummer is just...

I listened and hear the resemblance as well. Good take. I kind of lean towards agreeing w/ you about the fake harmonies. I think it would sound better w/ real harmonies - but I don't want to have to sing them. Too much "sameness". It "suits" as a placeholder, I suppose, but could be improved...

    Rock On v2

Although likely wrong, that points to some subtle process change that is introducing it. 250ms is huge. Something in the signal path is slowing it down. Just a guess, of course - but Occum's Razor and all that.

Great thoughts, bud - and thank you! Since the female parts are "angels", I wanted to convey that in a ghostly sort of manner - and I added such effects to the female parts that smudge the sound of the vocal. They're slightly odd sounding anyways - being vocaloid synths. The effect is...

That's a curious thought, P. I'll have to chew on how I would make that work. I've got the bongo and percussion up in that section. Mostly it's keys/bass in that segment.

Check your latency settings in your soundcard - sounds like you've got a built in delay occurring. Increased latency is great for stability, but can get really annoying when it lags.
