Here's me being stupid:
I bought the mxl603 stereo pack to record my acoustic guitar...sounds absolutely fabulous by the way when it is in stereo. I have a mixer with subouts, direct outs, etc. which i plug these two mics in, and then i plug the mixer into my computer's sound card...the problem...
Newb question:
Is it possible to connect my compressor to the aux send/return of my mixer and send more than 1 channel to it? assuming that i want to have the same ratio, etc. on all the channels.
Thanks!
I have the following mics:
mxlv67
sp b1
sm57
on the way are:
stereo pair of mxl603s
I want to record a 5 piece drum setup that will be used in a mix of piano, drums, guitar, bass, and vox. I wanted to know the best configuration using these mics. I am ordering an ATM25 for the kick, but for...
I picked one of these up today, mainly b/c every single person i've ever talked to told me it was essential to get one of these. Now, i'm not saying it's bad, but i'm actually not sure if i have a use for it. Right now i'm recording electric guitar, bass, drums, violin, and cello. For micing the...
Ok, forgive my ignorance, but i was wondering what it would take to connect all the individual direct outs on my mixer (10 of them) to, lets say a delta1010. the direct outs are 1/4in female and i think the delta's ins are RCA? not sure, have never used one. Also, if there is a soundcard...
is there any firewire interface that has 4 1/4in inputs? Basically, i'm looking for the maudio quattro in firewire form so i can get better quality (24bit, 96khz) I'm looking to spend under $500. Thanks!
ok, i have a pc desktop right now, but i have the opportunity to trade it in for a mac. The desktop is athalon 1Ghz, 512ram, 40gigHD. I can trade it in for any mac that is $1500 or less, but not more. My question is, what kind should i get? I was looking at the iMacs and the ibooks. I need...
I've been looking for some decent condensors to record a cello with. I was thinking about 2 small condensers that could be doubled as drum overheads if i need to, and maybe improve my acoustic guitar recording sound (right now i'm stereo micing with 2 different large diaphragm condensers). The...
I have a very crappy pulse drum set (sells about 150 on musiciansfriend) but i love it to death. It does what i need it to do, which is mainly to let out some aggression :) However, i've been wanting to record it, in a mix with piano, distorted, clean, and acoustic guitar, and a bass, and I'm...
I got a Pulse Drumset for Christmas...It's probably the lowest of the lows, but i love it to death! My drummer has a custom pearl set of some sort, but i just wanted a set to record my own stuff with. Anyways, I want to record with it, and my friend said that I could make any set sound great if...
How good/bad are the samson and nady drum mic packages? They sell for relatively the same price, each under $200, but the nady's come with 2 condensers for overheads. I want to record drums, but am on a very very tight budget. Currently I am micing using 2 condensers, but i want to be able to be...
I'm looking to buy a behringer eurorack ub1832fxpro for my little home studio, but i'm conflicted over the reviews. Some people say its actually pretty good with decent preamps...others say, and i quote, it's the "the weapon of mass destruction against music"
any suggestions? right now i'm...
I can't get the audio driver bit depth setting in SONAR 3 to be 24bit. I'm using an M Audio Duo and I know it is capable of 24bit/96khz, but it will only let me record in 16/41. I have downloaded the new drives from M Audio's site, but still can't get it to work. Any help would be greatly...
I want to have a dedicated hard drive for my laptop so i can just use it solely for recording. The problem is i don't have a firewire port on it. Would a USB Hard drive be too slow to keep up with my recordings (using sonar 3, recording maximum 2 tracks at a time 24bit 96khz). Any advice would...
I'm a beginner just wanting to start out in home recording, so I got the M Audio DUO ($150 new) which has been working great for me. (i'm using a laptop with no firewire port on it) I didn't want to get the Quattro b/c 1. i've heard many people had problems with it and 2. the quality would not...
Hey everyone, this is my first post, and I am a beginner, so please bare with me...
I want to record a guitar that's going to be in a mix with drums, bass, and piano. I want it to have that distorted, punky sound which is best heard in Something Corporate's album Leaving Through the Window...
