i'm looking to make a homemade amp isolation box to stop inter-instrumental bleeding. if i just made a wooden box with heavy foam insulation inside, would this keep the sound from escaping to at least some degree?

i'm looking to get a lower end USB interface box. i've been looking at several, and the MAYA 44 USB caught my eye...but i can't find the bit rate anywhere! is it 16 or 24? (also, does anyone have any strong feelings about the unit?)
i know that to go from lo-z to hi-z efficiently that you need an impedance matcher. do most XLR -> 1/4" cables match impedance, or is that only for hi-z to hi-z operation? (basically, i'm buying a lo-z XLR cable and a Little Imp for every mic, and was just wondering if it is necessary.)
