I need a backup bass to teach lessons with.
It doesn't even have to work - although if it did - that would be a bonus.
I already have a nice bass that I use - so this is really honestly just a bottom of the barrel, filler piece to show technique with.
My basic requirements are that it can...
Anyone got a bass I could purchase to use (as a backup) for teaching lessons? I don't even need the fucker to work really. As long as the student is plugged in - I can just show them technique. The cheaper - the better!
My real bass gets used a lot for various projects (don't know why...
...to record my Unicorn?
He's some got some SWEET tunes.
Kind of a mythical techno and celtic elfin-core thing going on.
Anyway - it's pretty fucking cool.
So - I pulled out the trusty B1 (cause you guys said it was the BEST - remember...) - and the damn thing just seized up!
Fucking...
I have a room in my basement that I would like to start building on as a small home studio. In my master/dream plan - this would just be the console/womb room, as I have another room planned for tracking - but for now - if I could just get it flat, I would be happy.
I've just started reading...
Anybody have any experience with these.
Made in Korea, etc, etc. Much cheaper than regular G&Ls
They look nice, and Ive read decent reviews.
but.....
most budget lines are very "get what you pay for" with few exceptions....
I'm looking to replace the nut and saddle on my Seagull accoustic (and probably my wife's Art & Lutherie as well) with something from the bone/ivory category.
Couple of questions:
- Good places to buy from?
- Differences in bone and/or ivory quality that I should know about. Is one kind...

I'm now the proud owner of a 5-string Hamer Active bass with 2 EMG pups . Its years and years old, but Im not sure how old. Got it from a friend. Im fairly certain the pups are an upgrade. I can post pics when I get home (at work now).
Any idea what model it is or how much this would be worth?
Anybody know anything about this mic?
I just won it off ebay (For $10 I couldnt pass it up ) and I know nothing about it. Found plenty of info on the M series of mics (lots on the ones they still make) but nothing on this one.
Good sign or bad - Im not sure.

Shells made out of ABS plastic?
Anybody heard these? They sound much different than wood shell bongos?
Maybe worth getting for a different flavor?
Thanks,

I used to play drums years and years ago, and I had a nice Peral Export series that I liked very much. I sold it when I picked up a guitar and circumstances dictated I choose one or the other.
Years later, and my wife and I just bought a new house - and it has a nice big basement for me...
When you are talking about recording gear: Does any piece EVER outshine absolutely EVERYTHING else SO much that absolutely EVERYONE who is exposed to it agrees that it is the BEST?
Does the word "BEST" even belong in the recording gear vocabulary?
For those of us who:
A) Cannot afford to outfit the entire studio with Monster cables.
and
B) Do not make our own cables.
What brands of cables do you feel comfortable with (for quality and reliability)?
I have a couple of monster cables and a shitload of random guitar cables that I use...
Anybody know anything about this mic?
Looking at picking up one cheap - just wondering if it's worth it as an alternative to my 57/58's for cab micing and other dynamic applications.
Thanks,
Todd
Takaminne LTD-90: I know a guy selling one for $300. I havn't looked at it yet, so I dont know what it's like, but he said it's in "Good" condition. I need to find out what wood it's made from.
Does anybody have any info on these LTD models from Takamine?
Good deal? No Deal?
Thanks...
I've finally got enough Rack gear to justify a "Rack" and patch bay. :D :D
Im not looking for a "best" deal or a "cheapest" deal with this thread, I just need a starting point.
Ive never owned or purchased a "Rack" before, although Im very familiar with them in other studios.
So which...
Calrad - Anyone own one? I know one of they're primary uses is video, as they currently make alot of shotgun mics and camera mics, but other than that I know nothing.
Does anyone have any experience at all with these? .
Thanks.
