When I'm changing between two programs for playback monitoring, e.g. windows media player and cubase, I get a little click or pop in my active monitors. Is this normal?
When I shut down the computer, if I don't turn the monitors off first off first then I get a rather large pop. Is that normal?
My computer tech suggested the following setup for my audio projects.
P4 ATX 500W case
ASUS A8V-E Deluxe (Athlon 64 FX/64)
Chip AMD 64 3500 Box
2 PC 3200 DDR400 512M
74G WD 10000 RPM Sata
160G Seagate 7000 RPM Sata
eVGA N376 nVidia e Force 6800GT
It all seems high end to me and he says it...
I finally took the plunge and scored the Lnynx card with SX3. I didn't realize until afterwards that SX3 only runs on windowsXP and I've been running win98, duh. So now I guess it's time for a new puter too.
Question: Can I use 2 cards, the Lynx at 24bit and a creative soundblaster live at...
Can anyone make a long story short on the legal aspects and steps you need to take when you produce, record and market a choir? Just a general direction would be good for starters.
This choir is actually up on the altar in a small/medium size church. So far they're using 2 sound systems. One system is using 5 miniature condensors hanging from the ceiling(in between the floor mics) and on the lecterns using an EV board. The other system is 6 Shure 58's going through a...
I have two red knob amps. One hasthe original fender speakers wired in series and running at sixteen ohms and the other has two different 8 ohm jbl's wired paralell running at 8 ohms. I like the sound of the jbl's better but the amp hums a little. Could the hum be from the impedance selection...
If you mix to tape or an external digital mixer are the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS's cards decent for tracking? Their Max. Recording / Sampling Rate is 24-bit/96kHz and the Dacs(I'm assuming this means the converters) are 24-bit/192kHz.
I was at FYE yesterday and they were pushing these cleaning cd's at the counter. My first thought was how can you demagnetize a lens and if you could how does spinning a cd do it? Anyone have a clue how this works or are they jamming it to the public?
Clipped ad off the net: Maxell wants to...
This trap uses an enclosure with a depth that is 1/4 the wavelength of the offending bass frequency. If I leave 4 speaker columns unused and standing along the backwall of my studio that are only 1 foot deep, does it hold true that these will trap midrange wavelengths? Will it prevent this by...
I'm building a new house and could put a studio in either the basement, the garage or in the living area where there is a cathedral ceiling. Which is the better choice? Also, while it's being built is there any feature I should have the builders put in while it's going up like extra wiring or...
I have two Fender 1275XPs which are 15" two-way, 400W peak / 200W program @ 16 ohms floor monitors. I also have an old Peavey 260H monitor 400 watt amplifier which surrounding the speaker outputs it says 130 watts @ 4 ohms. The amp runs with 120V@ 5 amps and there are no switches or options...

My band uses a macky mixer and SM58's which works real well but we're looking for a better setup and figure we should start with the mics and maybe use a mic pre-amp. Someone mentioned Sennheiser but I'm not at all familiar with them. Where do we go from here?
I got to play a vg-88 with a roland ready strat at guitar center while in N'orlins and I just had to have one. I got real lucky on ebay and got one with a roland ready strat for only $900 buckeruse...wahoo!
Now I have this huge task of learning how to work it into the music my band does. Up...
I have read lots about having the bass going direct for recording. My bass player is using an older bass amp (Traynor) that doesn't have a direct lineout for the PA. Last week we were recording a few tunes live and I had to mic the amp using a SM58. The recording sounds good to my untrained...
I have a 3 piece band and after reading a little on them would like to use ear monitors for live performances. Can a few of you guys or gals tell me your experiences with them and head me in a good direction on where to purchase them? I'd like to have wireless with the ability to have...
I'm limited in Cubasis to a maximum EQ of 14kHz. I'm trying to isolate and boost a cymbal which I believe is in a higher range(15kHz and above), at least I'm hoping to brighten up some cymbals that can hardly be heard in a drum mix. What would be a good program to export this track to that would...
