I've made no bones about the fact that I'm continually dismayed at the poor quality of commercial products and the lack of integrity of the people who sell them. I'm so disgusted, in fact, that I'm tempted to try to build my own mixer. I understand and accept that this may take a long time and...
The US-428 isn't in Reaper's (very short) list of compatible surfaces. There's a Frontier logo on the Tascam, which led me to try installing it as an AlphaTrack or Tranzport. No joy.
The closest I've come so far to getting it to do anything was installing it as a HUI. The level faders move the...
I just got a control surface and am going to map it to Reaper this evening. I don't have any song ideas of my own at the moment but want to practice mixing. Send me your raw tracks to mix!
Thanks,
Jim
No error message, no nothing. The Nicfit nf_chords control panel appears for a second, then Reaper just poofs. This issue was posted on the Reaper support forums nearly four years ago but has apparently never been addressed.
I'm killing little Behringers left and right over here. :laughings:
My instruments are synths, grooveboxes, and vocal mics. The room is laughably small. I need a quality Ebay mixer with flexible routing.
Thanks!
Jim
As a conservative estimate, I'd say it's been at least 10 years since I listened to tape until yesterday.
Besides the spycorder among recent Ebay bargains, I found a ca. 1981 Technics M205 with soft-touch transport buttons that seem rather more mechanical than logic-controlled, mechanical...
Unless I miss my guess, the reflections from tabletops in the "red zone" below will be the biggest problem area. The "blue zone" should cover the rest.
I'm looking at making some 48" x 48" diffuser panels out of various lengths of 2" x 2" wood or styrofoam, as described here.
The absorbers will be 4" deep 24" x 48" panels similar to this design.
I have in mind to make a few of these cylindrical bass traps so I can experiment with placement...
Bad time of day to be taking photos in this room, but here goes.
This is the Casio HT-6000, flagship of Casio's "Spectrum Dynamic" line. It's a beautiful-sounding instrument, but it was poorly marketed and therefore extremely rare. The HTs have a bad rep because most people are only familiar...
If you know what this item is, then you know you want it. The only reason I'm selling mine is because I subsequently acquired the full-sized version (the CT-410V).
For those who don't know what this is, it's a vintage Casiotone keyboard with faders that control the filter attack, decay, sustain...
I want to bring the sidechain insert of my dbx 166A out to the patchbay to make it easier to add or remove an EQ to the sidechain. How can I allow the compressor to function normally when no EQ is connected, i.e., with an insert cable plugged into the sidechain inserts but nothing connected to...
In the next few days, I'll be moving furniture around so that I can dedicate a whole room to use as studio space. There are two beds, one full and one twin, that will need to be moved into storage. But now I'm thinking since they're here and I'll need to treat the room anyway, why not use the...
... I started collecting vintage Casio keyboards. I know this because I just got an automated message on Ebay saying it's my one year anniversary with them. :laughings:
Is this really something the novice needs to worry about? My compressor has balanced connectors, but it works fine with regular 1/4" mono cables. Is it safe to assume all devices with balanced connections can be used as though they were unbalanced?
Thanks,
Jim
I'm working on a deal to acquire one. It will most likely cost me $400 to $500, and I really can't afford that if it's not going to make a huge difference.
I bought an SAE 1800 after I thought I'd lost out on the Klark deal, but then a second chance at the Klark arose. I haven't used the SAE...
I am a man of taste, if not wealth. :p
I usually skip the introductory threads when I visit a new forum and jump right in a-postin'. However, I've been lurking here for a few days (primarily in the Mastering forum) and am so impressed with the level of expertise available to the novice producer...
