In case anyone missed it, I had an email the other day advising the version 9.2 of Ableton Live 9 Lite is now available for download at the Ableton site.
I haven't had much chance to play but their site lists changes here: https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/live-9-release-notes/
I can't get the first link to open down here but the mics in the second picture are Sennheiser 9000s--that's their newish digital model.
These mics (like most of the high end Sennheiser products) are available with a variety of capsules depending on the voice and the use they're for so they...
I suspect what you're missing is the "Monitor Mix" knob. Bring your PC output into the 2-Trk in (as you've done), set the switch to send this to the monitor (not the main mix) then use the Monitor Mix to balance the levels between PC playback and live stuff on the mixer inputs.
The signal flow...
If I read properly what you want, my DAW (Adobe Audition) has it built in:
However, as per what Jimmy69 says, I don't think I've ever used this screen for anything other than to impress people watching over my shoulder. I've certainly never used it for mixing and, on the rare occasion I have...
You're spoiled for choice--there are lots of ways you could hook this up.
My suggestion would be simply Mic--->ART Pro Channel--->X1204USB(Line in)--->Computer via USB. Or, forget the Behringer and substitute the M Audio Fast Track. I'd go with the Behringer because the quarter inch input on...
Seriously, the original question was "Would you do analogue recording?".
Truthful answer? Yeah, maybe I would if I could afford state of the art multrack recorders and mixers and outboard racks...and the space for it all. However, with the gear I COULD afford, my recordings would be severely...
Not exactly recording but I know some of you have to do playback in live sound situations like I do...
...and to that end I'll mention a lovely little app for the iPhone that I've discovered called "Play Fade Pause". It's dirt cheap and does about 80% of what things like Qlab and SCS do on...
First off, this should probably be a thread in its own right...perhaps a passing moderator could split it off into the Newbies section?
Okay the first thing to say is that a Scarlett interface and Reaper working together are capable of good results. You don't mention what microphone(s) you...
We also have a PM who wants to show off his supposed size:
Personally I think he stuffs his Speedos with Kleenex...after all, he lies about everything else!
Welcome to the addictive world of home recording!
You seem to have thought things through fairly well, but a few comments on what you've come up with.
First of, you don't mention a microphone or two with all the attendant bits like stands, pop filters, XLR-XLR cables etc. There's a whole...
There are other "Stickies" alongside this one which give a darn good overview of the process of home recording--they're a worthwhile read.
However, with regard to the specific "mixer or....?" question, it's relatively easy. You need what's known as an audio interface. An AI is basically a box...
Most WIRED live performance mics are pretty similar to the SM58--it's designed to be a comfortable size to hold.
A lot of the "big" mics you see are, in fact, one of the radio mic versions of the SM58--same mic but with a radio transmitter added on.
For example, here's Roger Daltrey with an...
It's going to come down to 1 letter.
If you have the original Behringer Xenyx 802 USB you're out of luck. You can only route the return from the computer to the main mix--and it's the main mix that goes to the computer, so...
However, they've now come out with the "Xenyx Q802USB" which fixes...
UK members of the forum might be interested to know that there's an online auction later this month where the BBC is selling a ton of gear via an online auction.
A quick scan through the list of gear shows a number of very nice Calrec (and other) audio mixers, tons of rack gear and a nice...
Yup...although her biggest complaints are about the floating stage thing they sometimes have for the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. She's done several, always agrees a size and shape in advance and then always gets less than agreed when it's built!
Still, it LOOKS pretty!
There's absolutely a standard to "shoot for". Do some Googling and look up what NR-25 means.
There's not a hope in hell of getting NR 25 in most domestic situations and even very few pro studios achieve it though.
True sound proofing involves double skin concrete block walls with air gaps...
