I have a Delta Blues. I have a lot of amps actually. I'd put it in the class of Blues Jrs and such as far as the front end. Having gain and master volume lets you dial in some fizz. What I like about the Peavey is you can bypass the gain/ master volume and its just a straight up Volume/tone...
Phantom power will not appear on the 1/4" inputs at all. Ribbon mics are what you should worry about although I believe Royers can take it but I won't try.
I was in a local store that I've done business with for more than thirty years that recently sold when the owner retired. Some kid walks up to me and starts into his "string" sales pitch. I told him I had used GHS Boomers and he says "hmmmmm.....never heard of them". I won't be going back.
I've always been a GHS Boomer guy. And all my local spots don't carry them anymore. What's a mother to do? So today I'm trying something new. I hate change.
Yes. You make the special cable. Check the specs on your mixer to confirm the pinout. Most are 1= Ground, 2=+ and 3=-. I also have a StudioMaster mixer where the XLRs are jst the opposite.
I'm 65. I think I'm doing my best work minus some high end I can no longer perceive. I'd like to think I've learned some things over the years that still kinda serve me well.
Thanks my friend. Jams are getting precious now. My buddy the drummer is in his 70's and his heart's giving out. These jams are a bit more than vanity projects now. I REALLY appreciate the kind words.
While I wouldn't say my rooms are bad, they're small which is about the same thing. I've been using SDCs for years with great results. KM-184's and Earthworks SR-71's specifically. Either X-Y or mono to avoid phase crap.
That's probably more my tastes. Maybe its just me but I think a lot of stuff is just a bit over crisp so I listen to stuff, think to myself "yeah, that's good" and back everything off a dB. Ya know what I mean?
