Should you buy a pedal steel guitar

All those combos must drive a guy crazy at first. I'd love to have one of those for a couple weeks!

Should you buy a pedal steel guitar

Same boat, I've played C6 lap steel a decade or so, and have at times wanted to make the jump to pedal steel, but the prohibitive cost combined with the time investment just seemed like too much. Although I do wonder being relatively experienced on the steel guitar, I would think the learning...

    So-Long Lonesome

Is this done? I've been running in circles trying to keep the vocals out front without burying the other instruments. Any feedback is appreciated! Listen to So-Long Lonesome by Pete Ruble on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/SF1dk

    For no one (Beatles cover)

Like others mentioned a couple little guitar playing hiccups but overall it sounds nice, you have a nice voice. Do you have a plate reverb at home?

    Mixing SOS

Didn't hear anything wrong with your vocals.. Nice song selection too. I was always surprised Marcy Playground didn't get more airplay aside from Sex and candy, that whole record was a sleeper 90s classic.

    Mixing SOS

Nicely done Monkey, that third line 'on down the hill...' really pops with the chord change. Mix-wise all the instruments seem to sit nicely in their own space, at least on my JBL bluetooth speaker.

    Mixing SOS

I think you're being way too hard on yourself. I'm sure if you went back and listened to the very first thing you've ever recorded, the stuff you're doing now would be leaps and bounds above it. I know when I do that with my stuff it really puts things in perspective. And from a songwriting...

    Mixing SOS

Definitely sounds a crisper on the second one. The drums are really tightened up.

    Mixing SOS

Amen. I feel the same way about a lot of what you said, especially like the bit about each step of the way kills the song...that is sad but so true sometimes.

    Are mixing tutorials worth watching?

Funny you should bring up the topic, I'm going through a similar recording tutorial binge. I think I fall into the same boat where I get tempted by all these thumbnails. I see the video and think, "I need to watch that video before I record anything else." Haha. Then every once in a while I...

More new Honey Hunters - "Song for Sergey"

I'm a newbie around here, not sure if I could give you any constructive engineering advice. But from a musical perspective I thought it was pretty solid. Those tom hits work nicely with the gtr riff.

Hey everyone! Im Pete. 36 years old. Started recording as a teenager on a small tascam 4 track. Had a few setups since then but currently using a tascam 38 and bouncing into Reaper. Anyways I've been lurking here off and on a couple months and enjoyed learning from you folks! Going to try to...

So I do have some music out now!

Did you play the steel guitar on that? Always like hearing the steel..Was that a key change for the chorus? that was interesting.
