Lavaleir mic into the 1/4" jack (unbalanced) works. The cheap lav I have has the battery module integral to the cable and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter was provided in the kit. The recorded signal with this mic was a tad on the low side, but could be brought up in an editor. The XLR jack has more...
The 1/8" TRS to XLR adapter is likely for a 'balanced' source and destination. The lavalier mics are 'unbalanced' with one connection on the TRS plug providing 'plugin power' and will not work with an adapter like you have (hopefully didn't fry the mic(s)).
Edit.... the RODE VXLR is not...
Not familiar with the Focusrite saffire 40 pro, but looked at a few retailer sites and it generally gets very good reviews. You also recently mentioned an AKG C3000 mic that you're not happy with. I think before replacing the Saffire 40, I think I would perhaps be looking at other mics that...
A little while back I bought an older Radio Shack sound meter off eBay. One of those purchases where I wasn't sure why I needed it, but figured it was cheap so why not :o.
Anyhow got around to taking a few reads in the room where I record to see what it picked up. Nothing running in the room...
Why do you need the UAC222 when your mixer seems to have a USB interface???
Posted by ecc83.... 'Instead, as mentioned feed the outputs back into the mixer (almost all mixers have RCA "tape/CD" inputs)'
Which your mixer does have if you chose to use the Behringer interface
You could also use...
I did some searching and found an image of the backside of the cap. There are two dimples that are made for what's called a 'spanner wrench' (image below) that grabs those dimples to unscrew it. If you have a pair of needle nose pliers and if the cap isn't overly tight, you might be able to get...
Headphones are stereo, you don't want to use that to connect to the Alpha. Use one of the Line inputs on the back of the Alpha from one of the mixers Main Outs. If you have headphones (which you should have a pair :) ), how do they sound if plugged into mixers headphone jack?
If you saw the jack below, it's what is referred to a a 'combo' jack. It accepts both XLR and 1/4" TRS plugs. The XLR is generally standard for mics and the 1/4" TRS for line level gear. It may or may not have the push latch mechanism which locks the connector in.
Below is a schematic for an APEX 460 (couldn't find one for the Badaax T-11A). Pin 1 might read up around 540kohm in the APEX through R4(270kohm) and R3(270kohm). What value of ohms did you measure and did it start at a low value and climb (capacitor charging)? If a schematic was supplied with...
There are a few Behringer mixers that provide only 15v, so seeing 18v on a small mixer probably is correct. Usually when it's low voltage they don't provide a way to switch it on/off.
Looks like the STC-20 requires 48v. Might work, might not work well, or not work at all. If you have the gear already give it a try. Low phantom won't hurt anything.
The mixer you purchased doesn't appear to have USB to connect to a computer. Are you intending to use the mixer to record to a...
Spotted these this morning. Either one would be decent for VO, podcasts, or some vocals and as used there's a bit of a savings from a reputable retailer. I have both and the RE320 has a bit hotter output that an inline preamp such as a Cloudlifter or FetHead isn't needed in most instances. I do...
A bit of emphasis to noobs seems to be put on room treatment when they are just at a point trying to decide what mic to buy, maybe to point they aren't sure if they should get a dynamic or a condenser mic (some may argue it makes no difference ) or treat the room before they use a mic...
Quickie with an SM57 and Tascam US144mkii (2.2kohm input impedance :) ). Micced about 8" off acoustic midway between soundhole and 12th fret. Chuku had mentioned 'thin' sounding, so wondering how this compares.
Unedited mp3 and waveform as recorded in Reaper.
These were retailing for about $119 a while ago and presently at $79 from B&H. I had bought an Aston version (purple lyres) a while ago and now it's all I use for my LDC's. Very easy to mount the mic and it stays put. Don't know if this rollback price is temporary or not. I ordered a second one...
Paj usually posts the daily deals from PSSL, but I beat him to it on this one.....
MXL 604 Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone Pair | PSSL
I have a pair of MXL603's and the 604's are supposedly a bit better and additionally have a pad switch and a high pass filter. I've used my 603's on...
