    Mixer question

I ran across this older neve board. It's a model 542 Series. Says it's a 12:2:1. Which I guess is a 12 channel 2 aux sends 1 stereo return. Would each channel have its own separte output as well? Any ideas on which pre's are in this board? Thanks.

    Sennheiser - 'splain me something

OK, so i finally got around to playing with my MD441. I noticed that at the base of the mic, where the cable plugs in, there's an adaptor to adapt from what looks like a proprietary cable to an XLR. Is this common? In addition to that, there's a round switch at that same base, with a "M" at...

    Tracking room floors

Why is it that most of the tracking room floors I see are hardwood? It just seems like one more reflective surface to attenuate. Wouldn't some industrtial grade carpet, with no pad be better??

You know how a dog will look at you and sometimes cock his head from side to side?

Well, those are the looks I get when I ask about O.C. 703 pannels at the local building supply store. Has anyone actually ever seen these in captivity? I can't even find 703 pannels on the Owens Corning web-site. Anyone else have any luck in finding these?

    Got my permits today!

It's actually happening! My plans were approved, and my permits were issued today. I'll probably wait until after Thanksgiving weekend to "break ground" though. Still about 2 weeks ahead of schedule though. Of course there's a myriad of inspections to go through, at various stages of...

    Elevations

I may actually beat my self-imposed December 1st deadline, and actually submitt for permits the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! Not that City staff will look at it before the following Monday, December 2nd actually, but at least I'll have it in before the holiday. So, given that, I thought I'd...

    Sealing Cable Channels

If a cable channel crosses under a wall, how do you seal that up? Or is it better to terminate the channel at the wall and use a face plate on each side?

    Electrical Current

I talked to Austin Energy today and they told me my existing electric service (200 amperes) is inadequate for an additional 1200 sq. ft. building. No surprise there. I knew this going into it and requested some info from them weeks and weeks ago. It's nice to finally have that confirmed...

    Tama Star Classic

Tama Star Classic, with Birchwood Toms and Kick. Anyone know anything about this drum set or have any opinions on it? The basic 4 piece set consists of Kick, and 3 toms. It runs about $1150 at GC. No cymbals, no hardware. Good deal?

Looks like I have a studio to build!

I just heard from the bank, my financing has been approved! I close on the 1st. Now I need to finish the plans, submitt for permits, and pick the subs. Hopefully this will move the ground-breaking up to the first part of December. That's 2 months sooner than I had hoped. I'm stoked!

    Pearl Drum Set?

I saw Mars had this Pearl Drum Set for sale. Sorry, I don't know the modle number, but it had a natural mahogany finish. It included The kick, 3 toms and a snare. I think the sale price was about $800, marked down from about $1200. Would this make the beginnings of a decent studio set? Or is...
