    Moving From FL to NJ

We're moving from Fl to NJ in early January. The wife's sister in NJ had a stroke and...well....family comes first right? We're retired and have lived there before (20 years ago) so it's not that big a deal for us. I'm going to be making custom shipping boxes for all my guitars. The guitars...

Sound blips & blops (all the issues!)

Assuming that setup ran blip fee for long time before.......you have to ask....what's changed? Have you added any new software. What's running in the background when this happens? Doesn't seem like a hardware failure at frist glance. Maybe post a clip here for us to hear. Mick

    Spectrum Analyzers. Great tool!

It's a another good tool....not a be-all end-all solution. And I know no one here is saying it is. As with most of the audio products we use to listen to our mixes with......monitors...speakers....headphones......etc......"learning it" then using it is the way to go. Can you mix or master...

    Headphone recommendations

^^^^^^ Yes.....that's good advice. As well.......the Sennheiser HD600's are also excellent for final mixing....which I have and use......and believe it or not....my set of AKG371's are also really great and at least for me produce the best results. My 2 cents worth. Mick

    Band recording

Assuming you want to record the tracks simultaneously........your DAW should be able to route the inputs to separate tracks in your mix. You could delete or re-record or add any track after that. Mick

    Band recording

Hey doogy. There are a number of options but if you give us a little more info on your project needs we can probably better advise you. Mick

Just search Bluetooth transmitter. Most of them will get you to wireless......but.....I wouldn't use them for anything other than tracking or pleasure listening. Aside from some having delay issues........there are lots of reports that bluetooth degrades the sound quality to some degree or...

The HD280 at $99 is a good deal....especially if you're just using them for tracking. I used to have the HD201's and well......if you're needing to outfit a whole band with cheap tracking cans....then they're a good deal. If not.....stay with your HD280's. Just my 2 cents worth. Mick

Looking for some Advice/Tips on Mixing Kick Drum

I have Sonarworks and I use it from time to time to adjust some EQ on a couple of my headphones to test a mix........but it's still subjective. Your monitors and or headphones still affect the overall output sound....no mater how Sonarworks adjusts. I know that Sonarworks does adjust for many...

Basic equipment to get started jamming and recording

I could be wrong but I think the OP is using electronic drums. That would be very easy to incorporate via the normal stereo output of the drums. I use a roland V-Drums Lite set to record and it's great. Not saying e-drums are better....though they have SO MANY sounds.......just easier to...

    When the Morning Comes

Oh...that's an excellent song...performed with great talent IMO. One thing though. It starts out with a couple vocal "ooohs" which are nice.....but the other tracks come in abruptly at about 6 secs in. It's like you maybe had strong compression or some sort of strong noise supression on the...

    What aren't I doing wrong?

I'm a bit confused. Normal for me. You seem to be saying that almost every part of your mixes comes out bad.....even after sounding good on the 600's and the Yamahas. Most people would be ok with them sounding good on those. So....I guess you're saying that your mixes sound bad on everything...

Hello! I'm working on the mixes of my band's COVID album and I'm struggling to get the low end right

Strangely.......the OP is saying that his mixes are light on bass. The Eris monitors...with their anemic low end response....should...in theory....cause him to produce mixes that are TOO heavy on bass below 70hz. So.....either he's listening to his mixes on cans that are too heavy on...

Hello! I'm working on the mixes of my band's COVID album and I'm struggling to get the low end right

If you bring in a sub I'd highly advise you to do some sort of analyzing (mic and software) on your listening position. Dial it in as best you can by moving your panels if need be. Keeping within proper distance for your nearfields and setting the sub volume and cutoff frequency accurately...

Hello! I'm working on the mixes of my band's COVID album and I'm struggling to get the low end right

I wouldn't rush into getting a sub at this point. I'd think more about saving to get some better monitors. As for your room....well.....without some accurate analysis results.......there's no way to know just how much your room is throwing off your sound. It could be a lot or it could be a...

Hello! I'm working on the mixes of my band's COVID album and I'm struggling to get the low end right

Hey...welcome! A couple things. First......you mention that you listen to all your mixes with the EQ flat on all your playback devices. Other than your monitors........which you should likely keep flat....you might want to leave your EQ settings on your devices as you do when you listen to...

    Hello...please have a listen.

Well.....I really like your voice and I like the sound of your guitar. I do have to ask how you set up the mics and what kind of room you were in. The guitar is very "upfront" while the vocal is in the background. Did you want it that way? Did you sing while you played? You have a few tempo...

Studio Monitors resonating(?) at lower frequencies

If the Yamaha's are too much................check into the JBL LSR 305 series. Lot's of us here have them and they're excellent bang for the buck and highly rated. You can usually find a deal on them. Used would be good too. Mick

    Guitar EMI RFI

Sorry...for some reason I thought it was a bass. If the pickup is one of those removable types......that would be easy to test. As well.....while you have it out.....test shield just the portion of wire that goes from the jack to the pup. It could be that as well. And...of course.....you've...

    Guitar EMI RFI

You mentioned that an 1/8 inch thick piece of aluminum blocks the signal. You never mentioned if it blocks it from both sides of the bass. In other words.....you hear the noise....you move the aluminum in front of the pups...the noise goes away......then in back of the pups/bass body without...
