    M-Audio signal is too hot

Not too important but what model guitar are you using? And....where do you set your guitar volume knob? Also.....are you using any effects between the guitar and AI?

    Still allergic to digital ?

Ok.....you're allowed to go back in time to record Beethoven on piano. How cool! You can bring either an analog setup or a DAW / digital setup to do the recording...but not both. Which do you bring? Why? Not making a point here.....but maybe few good points will be made in the answers. Mick

    Still allergic to digital ?

He wasn't a troll at first. He was someone who's low self esteem made it difficult to deal with unexpected opinion rejection or pushback of any kind....revealing his true intention not to debate or discuss....but to insist and confirm his trembling ego needs. Then he became a troll...because...

Tell me your pedal chain and why thank you

I used to have a chain very much like yours but eventually went to a Boss ME-80. It has pretty much what you'd need and much more....great sounds and tones....and many of them are inifinitely adjustable including a volume / wah pedal. It works on a wall wart or batteries. You can find them...

Recommended vocal effects and mixing principles?

If you get to understanding and using Reaper you'll have all the effects you'll need. It's an excellent full featured DAW. Mick

Frequency issue in home recording studio

I'm assuming you're referring to mixes you made previous to changing the furniture and not NEW mixes since the change. Changing the furniture in the room might have caused the problem....but truth be told...you can't be sure unless you actually put everything back as it was....and that...

    Tascam 388 Story...

Holy Crap......having been an electronic technician for a worldwide Japanese company for many years......and having had a 388 many years ago too......I began to follow this thread just because it was so interesting! But WOW!!! What a genius we have here in SWEETBEATS!!!! I mean.......I would...

    Clipping/peaking out

Totally off topic....but....I have to say.....having followed this thead and taken time to absorb and research......I've really learned a lot from it. Really. Thanks everyone. Mick

Vocals sound great through headphones but fall flat through computer speakers?

Wow.....I think you just solved an issue our bass player was having in certain sessions where he wore cheap IEM's. I'll have to check that out when we meet tonight. Mick

    Capo

Ok...this is gonna give you a laugh on me. I've tried using a capo but you know what my real problem was? The dot markers are all off from what I got visually used to for so many years. Believe it or not......it throws me off up and down the neck. I can play most barre chords so no big...

Where have all the acoustic drums gone ?

In pretty much every case I'd rather have real drums...but...let's face it...as one poster already stated...real drums are loud. Too loud to use in most residential places these days. I can play my edrums with guys on accoustic guitars..and easily record and just goof around with any mix in my...

How many electric guitars does one really need to (fairly authentically) "cover the bases" - soundwise only?

Yeah....I have a LOT of guitars too and I agree. For the most part I can do any gig with pretty much any of them and a decent Fender amp.....and my Boss ME-80 pedal thing. One of my guitars is TRULY a one trick pony though. The Rickenbacker 325. Hardly ever used it for anything live...and...

    TASCAM DP-32SD Pan

Press the MIXER button to the left of the screen. Use the individual SELECT buttons on the console to choose the track you want to pan (track 1). The light turns green. Use the Pan knob (yellow top) (to the left of the SEND knobs) on the console. You will see the pan position change on the...

Phantom Power not working. Please help!

I tried to read about your mic. It seems that it pairs with your V8 sound card (sold together) but does not require a separate phantom power supply. Does it work fine just with the V8? Perhaps the V8 supplies power to the mic....but it's not clear. Mick

Years of unsolvable (RF?) noise stopping everything.

Geeez...tough one. Could be from your house power meter if it reports remotely.....or your water meter the same way. My solar panels report via cell technology but it uses a cheap power supply. It could even be a new car using RF tech to communicate between your key fob and the car itself...

What Are You Using To Make Music Recordings?

I use Reaper on a Lenovo T450s with a Zoom R16. It's an extremely capable setup. I started with a cassette recorder that came with one of those small plastic mics. I thought that was the coolest thing. Then I found a sound-on-sound Sony reel to reel and that was awesome. After that came a...

    AKG P220 problem

Hmmm....does sound like a humidity problem. So...everyone...tell me if this is a STUPID test. Leave the mic in the desiccant pack for a decent amount of time. Take the mic out and immediatly wrap it in plastic wrap (you know...the kind you use to seal foods). Seal the mic VERY...

    What headphone should I get?

Give some serious thought to trying the AKG K371 cans. Not sure of your budget but these are reasonably priced closed backs and have some excellent reviews by real pros. I have a pair and they're VERY comfortable and are GREAT to mix and master with. They would compliment your Senns nicely...

Help me choose on these headphones or suggest another

The AKG K240's are fairly bass light but pretty mid accurate. I've had them. They're also open so any mic work with cans might be an issue. I'd advise the Sennheiser HD-206. I've had those as well. For $30.....you can't really go wrong IMO. Mick

    The Infamous Fostex MN-50

I haven't experienced any ducking using the power supply...but to be honest....I almost always use it with the battery. As for using it live....yes...it's very sensitive but as I mentioned adjusting it is very "touchy"....and it may not work in certain live environments. Mick
