    Clickity Click

Hmmm.......very strange of course. I sort of think Dave might be onto something but do the monitors run on a power supply or a direct plug? Is this problem new? Have you made any changes to the system recently? I'd do the ground check on the outlet(s) for sure. 2 cents worth of.....let...

    I’ve Got A Feeling (Cover)

Wow....you're 26 and you chose to do a BEATLES tune? Ok....I have to know why....and what made you choose that song? It was a GREAT choice for sure.....but 26 ?? I know of zero 26 (or there-about) year olds who would even know the name of more than a couple Beatles tunes....let alone I've Got...

    I’ve Got A Feeling (Cover)

OK....imagine me standing up and giving you a hand for that. I mean it. That song is SO Beatles that few have ever tried to do it. You attempted such a difficult tune to pull off....as you stated. Man......nice work. However......yes.....however.....it does feel disjointed in parts. The...

    Are instrumentals 'songs'?

Man......another thread that exposes the uniquely human need to be right....and not just right.......but exclusively knowledgeable. Very interesting. 2 cents worth of......come on man. Mick

Wow.....awesome!! Did your EASY (see first pic) button make it......easy? 2 cents worth of envy. Mick

    I Feel Alright

I thought it was pretty well done.....with just a couple nit picks. The bass is too muddy for sure. It needs a little more "growl" to fill out the character of it. The guitar licks are fine to me. It sort of reminds me of that Johnny Rivers song "Secret Agent Man". I know...that's really...

    Best headphones for mixing?

Generally the basic advice is to get open headphones for mixing....that's true. But......headphones have come a long way and you don't have monitors yet....so....you might want to invest in some good closed back headphones for current and future use. You don't say if you'll be doing vocals...

    Control volume in headphones

Yes....this is correct. And as well...and important......be sure to adjust the dark grey knob on the far right end of the pre-amp volumes. It controls the volume and balance between your headphones and DAW and monitors. Play around with it and you'll see. 2 cents..... Mick

Recording sound from an amp using a microphone - good idea?

Maybe I'm confused.......but how are you listening to the recorded track? If you're listening back via your laptop speakers or cheap headphones you're NOT gonna hear anything like your raw sound right from the amp of course. I'm not saying the USB recording is ok to begin with.......maybe it...

Lost Zoom R16 Control Surface Ability

Found the folder I had used to keep the R16 drivers and manual and system software in on my Win7 laptop. The folder was there....but there were no files in it. I have no idea how that happened. Took the same file from my backup drive and put it where the empty folder was.....and presto...

Lost Zoom R16 Control Surface Ability

I just realized that I lost the control surface function on my Zoom R16 on my Win7 64 laptop. I use Reaper as my DAW and was always able to use the R16 control surface functions. The R16 still works fine as an AI. All controls in Reaper work but when I go to Control/OSC/web in Reaper...

How to fix messed up headphone cord?

Really? I mean.....really? Please don't tell us that you'll need to buy a new one if you can't fix it.

    Are instrumentals 'songs'?

Come on......an instrumental is a song. Of course....now someone is going to say...well.....if you have a guitar playing one chord for a minute with a horn playing the same note for a minute....is that a song? 2 cents worth of........is there a reason for the question? Mick

    problem recording acoustic guitar

I have the green and gold MXL V67. The MXL V67 logo printed on the body should be facing you. And yup....it's nice bright mic and works well on some things. 2 cents worth of......what....it's backwards??? Oh geeez....did it again!1 Mick

    Recording mics (newb questions)

Well....that quote absolutely belongs in the "Say Something Prolific" thread. I love reading what pretty much everyone here has to say.........but for sure......rob aylestone is always a must read. 2 cents worth of.....I wish I knew half of what he does about specs and technical info. Mick

Calibration software for monitor speakers and headphones

I've used Sonarworks headphone reference correction software for a long time now. One thing I can tell you is.....as boulder ^^^^ says above about speakers.......you can't make a headphone driver do what it can't. Some cans do not EQ well....and some do very well. So....the better the...

    Opinion on my MIX?

Well...to be honest.....and mostly in my opinion....neither of those two are likely to be much good for mixing. The headphones might be fine for tracking....since they're closed back......so you can use them for that.....but try not to make decisions about your mix on them. The Sony speaker...

    Opinion on my MIX?

What brand and model headphones are you using? What Sony speakers are you using? If you're dealing with a home situation where you need to be quiet most of the time......that's not unusual of course. We need to know your budget too....before we can give you our best advice. GOOD or better...

fixing a vocal once its been recorded

I only record myself. If I wander on one or two words slightly I use ReaTune (Reaper) to manually correct. Usually that works very well. If I'm sort of "sliding" up or down into a word....then that is far more difficult to correct without it being more obvious. Longer errors....I re-sing it...

    Mic boosters

Why do you think you need a booster? What do you do with your mic? Voice...music...etc? What settings are you using in Reaper and your Focusrite that are producing unsatisfactory results? Is it volume only that you're wanting or is it tone or quality or some other thing? You may not need...
