A friend of mine just bought a used Fender Roc Pro 1000... ...and from what I've read, it's a very undependable amp. He said it works fine, except "the reverb makes a squeeling noise if you turn it up"... Just about every review I've read from owners of this amp said they've had lots of...

    Blackface ADAT error Er3 message

Blackface ADAT error Er2 message I just bought a used ADAT from a guy off eBay to add to my collection. It finally arrived, and it won't accept a tape - as soon as it's shoved in, it kicks it out and "Er2" shows in the display. I've tried several tapes, and the same thing happens. Er3 means...

    SM57 history and mods (!)

The following link is pretty interesting... not so much from the historical point of view of the SM57, but the mods... I think I'm going to have to try this on one of my '57s... http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/t/8057/0

What's the last mic you had in your hands?

Mine was an Oktava MKL 2500 tube LDC, used for a vocal track last night. How 'bout you?

Has anyone tried the JoeMeek JM37 or JM37-DP mics?

I haven't seen or tried these new LDC mics in person, and I'm curious to see what others that own them think of them. Are they smooth, scooped, bright, dark, quiet, noisey, whatever? http://www.joemeek.com/jm37dp.html

Anyone tried out the new Vox AC15 reissue?

If so, what did you think? I'm assuming it's a Chinese-built amp, not British, but regardless of where it's made, I'm wondering how this new $600 tube amp sounds?

Does anyone own one of those Rogue electric sitars?

MF has them on sale for $230. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_id/88591 I've been looking around at used Coral electric sitars (BIG $$$), and other brands of new electric sitars (around $500-$750) to use for a few retro '60's songs, and I want something that...

Got my Dano DC12 12 string Saturday!

I saw the FedEx truck pull up, and the driver hopped off with a guitar-sized box... I couldn't wait to open it up! I LOVE this guitar! It's the purple metalflake finish, and it looks brand-new. Talk about a sweet jangly sound!!! The intonation is great, and it stays in tune too! $317 off of...

So we needed this 60's organ sound...

...for this 60's band, and the digital keyboard the keyboardist had had a nice B3 type sound, but it just didn't sound like te 60's... you know, The Animals, The Doors, Traffic, The Box Tops, Sam the Sham, The Kinks, and all those other great bands from the 60's. The keyboardist Emails me and...

Ever heard of New York Case Co (low cost road cases) ?

While looking for road cases for my Marshall half stack, I saw a whole slew of their cases on eBay... VERY low prices too. Here's a link to one of their cases for what looks like a 1960A/B case for around $170 plus shipping : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...7330774663&rd=1 Their amp head...

"Russ Long's Guide to Nashville Recording" DVD is a "must have"!!!

"Russ Long's Guide to Nashville Recording" DVD is a "must have"!!! I was one of three winners of a copy of the brand new "Russ Long's Guide to Nashville Recording" DVD, and I've got to say I am REALLY impressed with it! This DVD takes you through recording two different songs, part by part...

Bob at EuroTubes went through my Marshall yesterday!!!

Fortunately, I live in the same town where EuroTubes is located, and Bob was kind enough to go through my JCM 900 2500 Mk III yesterday, re-biasing and re-tubing it with a matched pair of E34L's in the power amp section, a pair of high gain ECC83S's in the gain chain of the preamp section and a...

What mic's have you decided to sell or discard, and why?

(OK... let's try this again...) This thread was suggested in the "How many mics do you have" poll, and I thought it was interesting idea... The only mics that I've ever discarded (took them back to the store actually) were a pair of Oktava 319's... I just didn't care for their dark character...

Looking for a wallwart for a Behringer UB802...

A friend of mine is moving and he gave me his UB802... he said it works fine, but he lost the wall wart (117v). Anyone know where one can be had at a reasonable (cheap) price? They have an odd connector on the end of the wall wart cable, so I don't think RS or the typical big box stores carry...

Anyone else having trouble recording a Fender passive Jazz 5 string bass?

I'm working with a band that has a bass player with a passive Jazz five string, and it's muddy and thuddy, no matter what DI, preamp or bass amp I've tried. The intonation is really bad too, although I think it's because of his playing technique... REALLY hard picking, really squashing down on...

For those looking for an Oktava MK319...

...the GC clearance spamsheet just arrived, and they're selling them out at $70 each ($69.99). No, I don't work for GC or Oktava... I just know there are some folks still looking for this mic, and thought I'd pass along the info. As many others have written, Oktava's vary quite a bit from mic...

What's your favorite FFT/Spectrum analysis software?

There are LOTS of freeware/shareware software applications available, but many of them seem to fall short on features. Got a favorite? These are the shareware/freeware apps I've found so far : http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/SPECTRUM_ANALYZERS/
