In the June 8 "Rolling Stone" I saw a picture of the bass player from Everclear holding a resonator bass with a lipstick pickup. Beautiful orange sunburst with one large and two small circular steel resonators! Any one ever played one? How do they sound?

I want to replace the flat wound strings with rounds on my hollowbody electric archtop. Do I replace with the same gauge or must I compensate for differences in tension?

I bought a seven string guitar today. Not that I know how to play it but because it was an incredible deal for a beautiful guitar.The extra sting is B below low E. Any helpful hints?

I have a Porta 1 that I bought new in 1986 that still works great. I only replaced one belt on mine, also. Although presently it's not my primary recording setup, I still use it as a backup and for taking on the road. It's reliable and it serves me well. I wouldn't think of getting rid of it...
