... well not quite. I obviously don't want to build my band up at all because:
a) We are very new.
b) We are amateur at recording.
c) Our vocalist can sing... It's just he fucks up the recordings.
So anyway, why am I here? Well we have just finished up mixing a "demo" just to show you guys...

I am gonna record the backing vocals again tomorrow. The general view I have got from people is that they spoil it. Anyway, tell me what you think.

I am having a few problems getting going with Edirol Orchestral in Ableton Live 4. Basically I can only seem to get one instrument playing - everything is assigned to channel one, and I have a midi track with some notes in - but only the top instrument plays. How can I get them all playing...
That was a joke by the way ^ ;)
Hi,
http://cuber.members.beeb.net/music/death.mp3
This song is Christian (obviously) but it is about my stuggle in how I cannot believe in aspects of the relgion. This particular song is about the fact that I can't imagine an afterlife, and the fact that I pray...

If you guys could check out the song "Look Upstairs Sample", I have temporarily dropped the acoustic guitar and replaced it with synths. I am a bit worried that the musical direction of "Christian / Electronica / Emo" is way too weird to grasp.
Some people...
Can anyone give me advice on getting a nice ambient feeling through midi that I can layer acoustic guitar on. I have posted similar topics to this in the past, but I never really knew how to explain what I wanted to achieve.
I am looking to get some nice twinkly riffs, and back that up with...
I currently have a catalogue microphone and am looking to improve my equipment a stage. Unfortunately - being a 16 year old, I don't have the money to hand to buy something really awesome, but I am sure I can get something to improve my £15 catalogue microphone.
I would like to get something...
I have wondered for a while how to go about bringing acoustic songs to life.
I am limited on funds, but I need things that fill the background a bit. They may well play the same chords as the guitar but would surely add some "boom" to the songs.
I have played about with Fruity Loops, which I...
I dunno how many of you listened to a Christian song I wrote, "Look Upstairs (Somehow)"... I am a bit of a n00b but some of the commments were to make it less dry, to compress it and to redo the vocals (which I am saving to last).
I wanted to add more life in so I placed the guitar twice and...
Hi,
I am really looking for someone to make some drum loops for my songs. Honestly it can be done in Fruity Loops or whatever, but if you have experience in doing this sort of thing, then I am calling for your help.
I think some drums could really enhance the sound of my songs, but I just...
I downloaded some VST's from KVR Audio ("ESRdrums") and placed the .dll in my C:/VSTPLugins folder. I have assigned that folder to Fruity Loops, so one I click to add a channel and refresh the list, why is nothing there?
I usually record in Adobe Audition. I like the interface and I like what things it can do. I am just getting into mastering now, so should I be using Adobe Audtion? Or should I be switching to software such as Wavelab?
I am really confused.
I am signed up to Purevolume, Soundclick and MySpace.
Obviously this allows for a lot more opportunity for promotion. The question is, which one should I promote the most? It may confuse the potential listener to leave them three different links.
Any ideas?
I like Purevolume in terms of its...
Ok I tried to do a bit of mastering this afternoon. I played around with EQ and reverb mainly. The question is, have I improved the song any? Does it sound any better? I think it does slightly - but I also think the effects I put in could not be there at all. I guess that why you guys are pro's...
In the past my music has been said to be a bit "dry". One comment suggest I "soak" everything. Not quite sure what this meant, or how I should I go about it.
I have looking up EQ and I now understand what it does and how it works. There are two things about EQ that I am not sure on though:
I was reading up EQ on a website that told me to "cut" the between 1-3khz and "boost" to 5khz. What the heck does that mean?
Secondly in Adobe Audition 1.5...
Should there be an order to the way I edit my initial recordings. Like in mathematics you should always go the order: brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction; should there be an order for mixing and mastering, aka: compression, EQ... whatever.
Any ideas?
Hi Homerecording people,
This is the last demo that will be put on my EP. I know a lot of you like the "Look Upstairs" track I did - personally I like this song more.
The song talks about "Christians" who think that they can do anything they like and still get into heaven just because they go...
