I tried that low fi thing on this song, 40 miles to go, and I’m not sure if I liked how it worked out. I still cringe a bit every time I hear it. Maybe it will be better for you. You can always try it out to see.
I think maybe after the first verse you should find a way to make things more...
I second a slight boxyness ( new word) on the snare in particular. I’m not finding the singing too bad at all but do you have a bit of a cold? The ride during the spoken part stands out with a perfect amount of reverb to let it shine through, perfect!!
Nice work as per usual
I don’t find that synth too distracting for me but why not post a version with it dropped right out on the verses anyhow so we can hear without it. I’m thinking it could be good that way also. Kinda change things up a bit. Plus when it does come in on the chorus etc. it will have greater impact...
As usual from you it is pretty damn good sounding to my ears. If it were up to me I’d take some of the bu vox out so they have more impact when they do come in but that’s just an opinion. Strings sound great
I think the difference is what makes it work. Also on the second change the strumming sorta starts while the movement before is ending kinda overlapping a bit. Works for me
First of all the clarity between parts in the first section is remarkable. The first transition works well in my opinion. The vocals are sitting nice and easy to hear everything. Second transition works nicely too.
There’s a good group of frequent flyers here with all sorts of experience with recording, equipment, mixing, mastering etc. lots of new music to listen to also. I find this forum very helpful in all things recording, and there’s always some friendly discussions on Prime time for those that like...
lol song title is relevant on this. Thanks for putting up 2 tracks and explaining what we are supposed to be able to hear. This is a great way for newbies like me to learn how to train my ears. First one sounds better to me also for same reasons as the others, the second one feels more open...
Love the punk vibe. Maybe back off on whatever effects you have on the vocals and they will cut through a bit cleaner. Bu vox could be up a smidge.
Excellent as usual. I was waiting for another one from you
