Music too loud or too quiet

Hi :) I have no idea how the orchestra was recorded and where. I was presented with this accompaniment and that is pretty much it :). Evidently, that's the only one she could find... Sometimes it is nearly impossible to find what you want, and if you do find it, no guarantee you will like the...

Music too loud or too quiet

Thanks for sharing this! This one is done totally in a different mood :) I like it a lot! Elina took a more lyrical approach :).

Music too loud or too quiet

SO, I decided to use the automation. This is the best way for this! Thanks (TalismanRich) :) for reminding of automation option. Only I did not automate the volume, but EQd down at 800 hz Q-factor 0.1 ... and it took away the energy (loudness) of the music at certain spots :) As far as fab...

Music too loud or too quiet

Rich thanks I do look at some retro songs sometimes for reference. and your are absolutely right. I know how to do automation ur for some reason I chose not to do it. I wanted it to be as gentle as possible... the method I used sounds good but I hear how it works... or maybe i hear it...

Music too loud or too quiet

Nuendo for some reason does not load .vst3 version of fabQ3 and that's the one that has a side-chain capability. Thanks. Actually in this version the vocal vs music sounds just how I wanted. Without using slight compression it would sound overpowering the voice. I need to figure out...

Music too loud or too quiet

I am not sure what time frame you are referring to... 1980s? I have compressed the vocal and I can raise it a bit to make it sound good on the loudest parts of the instrumental, but on the soft parts, the voice will be way too loud... I used C6 side chain compressor for certain...

Music too loud or too quiet

Thanks :) I will read on dynamic inverse EQ, I think FAB-Q-3 can do that trick. I never tried that. In commercials I do this c6-sidechain often to make the background softer when the voice sounds. But isn't dynamic inverse EQ similar to a side chain compressor aimed for certain frequencies...

Music too loud or too quiet

Hey, Rob! Thanks for your input. I did not want to compress anything, really. But making the vocal as low as I did (so it sounded good right after the loudest intro with very soft portion of the song) would totally cover it farther along the road when music gets louder. So i placed a...

Music too loud or too quiet

Most of the time the only way to achieve this is to find music rather than create one from scratch - not many have skills for that :( I don’t. And sometimes performance want to record the song so much that they settle for whatever instrumental that they can find ? Thanks for your input and...

    Vocal comping

Nuendo Usually 2-3 vocal takes and then we listen and do the switcheroo... ????? but sometimes it is necessry to punch in a few line here and there... usual stuff. I really do not have much experience with vocal. Do it as a hobby for my singer friends :). BY THE WAY, always wanted to know...

    Post production of classical vocal

Oh, no. I am sorry for such a delayed response (no, it was not a double post on your side). :) I understand what you are saying! Classical music, oprah, etc is not for everyone. no. You have got to really love it from day one... grow with it, learn to understand it. blah blah... you know what...

Music too loud or too quiet

Hi! I just would like to ask a question that bothers me long time. I was recording a friend last night Moon River - the instrumental was either soft or intense that would make the vocal either jump at you or drown... I was struggling, then I decided to put c6 sidechain compressor on music...

    Post production of classical vocal

Thanks for sharing your experience with opera. I can't say that this is my favorite genres of music BUT, I enhoy very much to listen to it sometimes. It depends on my mood. and by all means the singers' voice (for me at least) is the key! If the voice sounds shitty, I won't listen to it no...

I agree. And I think, it is not good to squash the sounds... I tried to compress the vocal a bit to make it a bit even. and some overall processing. That is all ....

    Post production of classical vocal

Thanks :) I did not purposely try to make the singer louder. I believe it happened on its own when I unmasked some high fq by lowering some low FQ and the vocal became more prominent :) The orchestra and vocal are two deparate tracks, so it is easy to make one of them louder or quieter :)

Hey, Rob! Thank you so much for your input :) This is one of those instances when you rely on auto anything lol Izotop "tonal balance" suggested some changes for "orchestral" I made these changes (master bus) It affected everything. And I was listenning and thought that she sounded...
