Quick question for all you very nice, very helpful acoustic engineers:
I'm building a small room, with the following dimensions, in feet.
Is this room acoustically sound, or will the room sound terrible? http://www.dranger.com/studio.gif
This really shows the importance of good acoustics. This was recorded with two radio shack mics and a TASCAM, sitting in the control booth at my school's gym. These people are my old band (performing without me...) and the lead guitarist is in 10th grade. They played 2 songs, the first beign...
I have a suspicion that my TASCAM 424's circuitry may have been damaged due to overdriving it. Is there some way that I can test for this? Because I'm not entirely sure if it is or not. And if it is broken, how do I fix it? Or do I need to (gasp) buy a new one?
Thanks,

I'm recording onto my TASCAM 4 track, and I can't seem to get it to sound right! http://www.dranger.com/test.wav
I'm micing my Fender Stage 112 with an SM57, about .5 inch away from the grill.
It sounds muddy, like...
This is my first MP3 submission to this BBS. These songs were recorded a year ago by my high school garage band in response to our unfair defeat in the school's talent show. They were recorded with only 3 Shure mics (not SM5x's though) we borrowed from the stage, my TASCAM 424MKII, and a ZOOM...
I am a very poor home recordist (is that a word?) and the only place I have around here to do anything is in my barn, which sounds really really quite nasty to record in. So, here's my idea:
I will build an enclosure, big enough for say, a drum set. The walls will be made of sound deadening...
