OK, Tascam gurus, some advice and/or opinions please:D A store in Sydney, which BTW is 160klms South of me, has both a 38 and 58 R2R . According to the staff there, the only obvious problem is that while the tape is predominantly on one reel, the machines are somewhat slow to get up to speed...

The attached pic is of my son's 21st birthday present, which he will be opening in about 10 hours from now. It is a "one off" 6/12 slimline acoustic-electric from master luthier Jim Williams and was made in 2000 as a special order..............the owner decided to sell at just the right time...
