Guys, I posted this several months ago in the Tascam forums without any success, since then I haven't used my ATR enough for it to be a problem but the time has come where I have to try and sort out the problem. For simplicity I have cut and pasted my original post. If anyone has any...

    Ayotte----shells----Canada.....?

I've been hearing rumours that Ayotte are getting their shells from a manufacturer in Canada rather than buying in from Keller or making their own. Does anyone have any reliable knowledge about this?

    A couple of questions..................

I posted this elsewhere but figured I would throw it in here as well.......... Just out of idle curiousity........ Does anyone know who makes a true free-floating shell system where the shell has no attachments and is held only by the heads. Also, who invented the double kick pedal?

    Tascam +4dBm vs Soundcraft -10dBV

OK, this may be a dumb question and I feel the answer is stuck in some irretrievable little pocket somewhere in my brain. My ATR-60 has a nominal input level of +4dBm and my S/craft console's channel tape sends are factory set at -10dBV.........however, I can mod them internally to +4dBu...

NAB Hub Adaptors and MX5050 question.....

OK, firstly, I'm trying to find a pair of NAB adaptors for my Otari MX5050, apparently they must be retained on the 5/16" spindles in a different manner to other brands of 1/4" R2R's.............if anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear from you. Secondly, the MX5050 has a 2 trk record head...

    The ATR has landed.

We picked up our ATR-60 and MX-5050 decks about an hour ago. For the ATR there is 10 spools of tape, 2 MRL Calibration tapes, manuals, remote and looms. For the Otari we have an additional machine purely for spare parts if needed. Now starts a learning process so guys be ready for some dumb...

    ATR-60.......advice........

I have a friend with a sick Tascam ATR-60, in that it's "take up reel" doesn't take up. Locally, finding a tech for this kind of thing would be like finding rocking horse shit and it would more likely that the machine would have to be taken 160klms to Sydney...........consequently I am hoping...

I don't usually like posting the same thing on different BBs but here seems more active than the new place at present. Does anyone have any opinions on Soundcraft 2" 760/762 recorders.......I know of a 16 trk going at a ridiculous price but feel somewhat cautious......the seller claims to know...

Rick, Was great to see you turn up at CNC..........I have most of the gear (imported from the US) to build a machine but it is on hold while I finish settling my late father's estate and getting organised to bring his workshop back down to my place. Hopefully once it is up and running I will...

    Software for reading notation ?

OK, this may be a dumb question but as I don't normally involve the puter with music production I am at a loss for an answer........... Does anyone know of software that will let you enter notation, and that will then interpret that notation and play it back via your soundcard, etc. I hope I...

    Our ever changing studio.

I originally had planned to do the live room/vocal booth/control room thing, but dollars always seemed to be diverted to something else and consequently the "studio" has evolved into a more flexible design. A vocal booth may still be on the cards but otherwise I like the open plan vibe and the...
