Getting Multiple Tracks to be the Same Volume

Compression and limiting is your friend. If you don't want to do that, then you would need to find the quietest song, and turn the others down to match it.

Getting Multiple Tracks to be the Same Volume

If every song you have is a different volume, the mastering process takes care of that. But if they are similar material and wildly different volumes, you may want to revisit the mixes. When mastering an album, it isn't necessary to make everything the exact same volume, you just want it to...

Using a single JBL EON612 for both kick bass and vocals.

The 58 will be fine if you just need definition. The speaker would just need to be as full range as possible. How happy you are with the results will depend a lot on the genre and your expectations of the final product.

Using a single JBL EON612 for both kick bass and vocals.

Have the drummer hit the kick harder. Give micing the kick and running it through the vocal speaker a shot. You might not need much kick in there to make it more apparent in the mix. It might not be volume you are lacking, just definition. Getting a bit if slap out of the speaker might make it...

Using a single JBL EON612 for both kick bass and vocals.

You could try changing the placement of the h5. When I used to record rehearsals with a stereo mic into a cassette deck, I would place it about 6 inches in front of the kick drum, about snare height. I ended up with a pretty good mix of the drums, guitars, bass and the vocals that were coming...

High end recording gear vs high end audiophile listening gear.

I'm not sure I agree with the premise that recording is about capturing everything exactly as it sounds. If that were the case, we would all be micing everything up with earthworks mics or binaural heads. We choose equipment for recording that creates the sound we want, to fit into the mix...

A (unorthodox use of ) Noise suppressor (or gate) type FX pedal to cut transients in vocals?

Not in pedal form, you would probably need to get a rack mount gate. Even then, I'm not sure how slow the attack gets on those things. The main reason to slow down the attack on a gate is to keep it from chattering and false triggering.

Searching for a LPG (Low Pass Gate) effect for my (live) VOCALS... is it possible?

They all work kind of the same. They are meant for guitar. The corner frequency is the frequency that the low pass filter starts lowering the high end. If it was a low pass filter on a mixer, it would be the frequency you set with the knob.

    Best rap mics under 5k?

No one is arguing that the mics all sound the same. We are telling you that there is no way for us to predict what mic will sound good to you on your voice. Since we haven't heard your voice or the sound in your head that you are trying to achieve. If your voice is sibilant, nasal sounding and...

    Best rap mics under 5k?

It is always about matching the mic to the voice. An SM7 is hit or miss, depending on the preamp and the voice. I use it because it isn't hyped, I can eq in the hype, choosing what frequency to hype. Most of the Micheal Jackson stuff was done with an sm7. Also a ton of aggressive metal vocals...

Searching for a LPG (Low Pass Gate) effect for my (live) VOCALS... is it possible?

A Rocktron Hush was a guitar gate that worked this way. But it was mainly used to minimise amp hiss when the guitar was quiet. The quieter the guitar, the more it would lower the corner frequency on the low pass filter.

Wanted - Tascam DA-30 MKII DAT recorder shuttle knob

That is a two their knob. The outside is the ff and rew and the face is the shuttle control that allows you to dial in an exact point on the tape. It isn't a knob as much as it is an encoder.

Thinking of Building a "Room in a room" for Drums in My Apartment

Mass and air gaps will stop sound transmission, but mechanical transmission takes isolation. The more mass you have, the harder it is to mechanically isolate it from whatever it is sitting on. By the time you build something that will keep the sound from reaching g the people on the other side...

how to bring level meters to zero for recording? (cool edit pro 2.1)

Are you using an asio driver, or the windows driver? If using the windows driver, it could be going through the windows mixer, which could be turned down.

If want to use the effects on my personal mixer at a venue where they already have a PA system, can I connect my mixer to the house mixer?

Are you changing the effects for each song? If not, you could certainly just tell the sound guy that you like a hall reverb with a 2 second decay and a 440 ms delay.

Phasing when recording DI & miked simultaneously

I will just move it in the daw. I would generally record the guitar plugging in, to make a sharp click. This gives you something to see to make sure you can line up the tracks. You will also be able to see if the polarity is the same as well
