What in your recording/mixing etc. process is the most carnivorous bit?
And how much RAM do you really use? (Get that Resource Monitor going......)
Kingston HyperX Fury Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMMs (HX318C10FRK2/8)
I`m building an i5 - H97 desktop, and that RAM happens to be on sale at my local store at a good price. Is that RAM acceptable? People scream about Corsair and a couple other brands, and I don't mind paying a few...
The search function didn't yield anything for my search, so:
I hate to admit it, but I have never backed up much. I have done a bit, but only for particular files and/or programmes. I now have music and other files which keep me awake at night - thinking about losing them. So, I need some...
I use Studio One, but the concept of Tracktion has always appealed to me, despite it lacking a console-view mixer. It used to be fairly buggy, as I understand. Does anyone here have an understanding of how the current versions are doing?
Thanks.
If I expose the wires out of a TS or TRS 1/4 plug, can I connect the wires (with speaker wire) to the terminals of (old and big) home stereo speakers, and thus run from my interface into the speakers that way - without killing anything/body?
Thank you. :o
I'm buying a mic tomorrow for vocal recording, and these two are available locally, and have good reviews. I'm baritone, slightly nasal by nature, but can sculpt that out a bit. I need this mic mostly for lighter pop-rock, rather than heavier. Pick one.
Thank you.
I've been recording with an old AKG, and it is not bad. It's rather like a Shure 58. I have a bit of $ available, and would like to upgrade to a mic with might give different/better results. My local recording guy says that the first upgrade which would actually make an audible difference...
I have read a number of reviews of certain speakers having these heating problems, some commonly, some being re-engineered because of the problem. How common is this? Do many speakers behave like that?
Thank you.
If you have two identical mono tracks, and panned them hard left and right, you would heat it in the middle of your head, right? The question is: would you hear the two tracks exactly the same way no matter how far left and right they were panned, as long as they were panned the same distance...
I'm using Studio One, in my own primitive way, and I would like the opinion of anyone who is familiar with S1 and Mixcraft and/or Ableton: how do either of the two compare to S1 as regards ease of use?
(I use both real and virtual instruments, with fairly traditional pop/rock songwriting.)...
I thought that Presonus's Virtual StudioLive was software to control their StudioLive mixer. It turns out that it is bundled (according to the manual) with the Presonus AudioBox. Is it used as a virtual mixer as a front end for Studio One? Or what.............?
Thank you
Regarding entry-level midi keyboards, the $100-$250 stuff, is there generally anything to choose between the products of the two companies?
Thank you.
:)
I have a laptop and a larger external drive. How do you divide up the duties for such a configuration:
-Main DAW program (Presonus Studio One)
-samples and sound files
-recorded data (sound) files
Thanks for any advice.
I just fired up a 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda and after a bit, it runs fairly warm. The UBS 2.0 enclosure is solid aluminum, with no vents. Hmmmm..... Do I want an enclosure with vents, or one with a fan? I don't see many with fans listed for sale, by the way.
Thank you.
OK, so "open" cause a problem by leaking sound, which can be a problem when tracking with microphones. That I understand. That's all I understand.
Out side of that, which is preferred?
What the heck is 'semi-open?
What are so few open or semi open, and most closed?
Thank you.
Do most people require/use this connection/protocol?
I ask because there is an interesting interface
PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL USB Audio Interface | PreSonus at zZounds
which does not have S/PDIF, while some of the competition does.
Thanks.
