    Unleash Yourself

Exactly what K dub said. Can only assume the vox being so low and dry on the first verse is intentional because they sound good once you're past that...but they're not so different that it achieves any sort of impact when they hit the right level...I'd tend to match it up with whatever levels...

    When I Arrived

Definitely hearing an upbeat Wilco there! ...Nice song and recording ?

    Down On The Border

I thought your second effort was much improved. It sounded Richer, fuller and with clear separation for all elements whilst being cohesive. Mark

    Misfit

Cool instrumental side, good playing and good mix. Your vocals are in an entirely different space though...experiment with some different reverbs / touch of chorus/ delay maybe.

    Country Mile

I don't have any advice in particular...mix seemed balanced enjoyed the song and production...had a listen to your other stuff too and thought it was really good..cool laid back vibe and interesting voice ? Mark

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

I think (hope) I've moved some way towards that with this latest mix. Eq on the vocal has been tweaked and a different reverb added. I've doubled it in some parts, not noticeably I hope, but adds some depth. I've mastered this latest effort so it has a fair bit more body and volume to it...

Reason to Rhyme - any feedback appreciated

Its definitely tighter than when you started out. Everything comes together much more coherently as the bass kicks in and there's improvement in the tone of the bass. Some of the not quite lead guitars flailing around the chorus section seem a little superfluous but overall its sounding good...

    an acoustic rock tune: "Hightime"

Firstly really nice playing...and for quite a busy sounding acoustic track, clean, none scratchy and yeah cool groove. Mark

    Suggestions on the mix

Nice low key bluesy feel to this...you've definitely got more room to the ceiling there so turn it up! Good work Mark

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

Thanks for listening in again...are you thinking too much reverb on the vocal or is it an effect thats creating the separation? There is a touch of chorus on the vocal....or it just too prominent?. Have to admit I'm struggling with this one. Tried a number of things for the last mix including...

    Ickle

Love the mood changes within...sounds like very clever, imaginative writing to me.

    Soul

You've done a good job there...everything sits nicely for me. I like the contrast between the synth sounds and fairly dry acoustic guitar. Only criticism would be the transition into the trumpet part seems really abrupt like it was a rough paste. Mark

    Brains

How refreshing! Really enjoyed that...definitely some Dylanisms in your delivery there. Mark

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

Thanks for the listen ...I spent some fair time playing around with the reverb vst (Dragonfly) as well as playing around with some chorus, delay, stereo width etc to try and get this vocal sitting better. As usual, the nuance gets difficult to decipher and you stop being able to listen with...

Reason to Rhyme - any feedback appreciated

Hey, I listened to this and then the original (which I'd loved). I'm only on earbuds right now but for me you've lost that warmth in the new mixes. They're stacked with reverb and delay and it all sounds very live...but its lost something (lots) in the process. You've had a lot of advice from...

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

Thanks for taking the time to point those out Spantini. A couple I was aware of and a couple I wasn't...its always so useful to get those new ears on it! Thanks for the listen...I'm usually being told to pull up the vocals so that makes a nice change ?...

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

I've had a look at the vocal reverb and some levels as suggested. Drums down and more compression, main synth toned down a touch...much happier with this new version and reckon the vocal sits pretty well in the song now...Not mastered yet as wanna get those things sat well.....Any thoughts would...

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

Very well done that...My only slight would be that the acoustic guitars are a little much in the high end and the solo too. A little smoothing out there. Love the song and overall an awesome recording. Mark

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

Ha! ...it probably couldn't be further...its based on walking the South Coast path with my kid and there were definitely no bongs involved ? Thanks for the listen and the loudness of the drums is also on my radar to have a look at. Always amazes me the difference between what you hear back on...
