While trackign to ADATs I always get my signals as high as possible. NOW when I dump to CUBASE 5.0 via my MOTU 2408MKII the signals are too hot or loud and upon mixdown I get a slight crackle or hissy distortion. Is there a way to lower the over all input ?? Limiting track by track so far has...

You know how some drummers insist on using their drums to record and the kick has no sound hole in the front? What do you folks reccomend as the best way to mike that? Should i make them take off the front etc?

Is it common to use gates on more then the kick mike while tracking drums? Is is advisable? I always get too much cymbals in the rack toms and thought maybe gating those mikes would help but I dont want an unnatural sound.. after all the over heads would capture the cymbals and let me fine...

I want to use two monitors.. a 21" and a17" I own. Will progs like cubase take advantage of this? In my mind I could have the standard stuff on the 21" and plug ins etc on the 17". Is this possible? can you recommend a video card?

Hopefully it is a good setup MOTU 2408 mkII CUBASE 5.0 Motormix It will be running on P3 500 256 mb ram and a 60 gig 7200 drive in it. Anyone have any experience with a similiar setup? Any incompatibilities etc I should be aware of??
