"Dance of Swords" music video finally released!

A couple months ago I got y'al opinions in the MP3 Clinic on this track from my upcoming rock musical. I want to appreciate all the help I got there. I just premiered the video (which I also shot) today, and releasing the song on Bandcamp as well (Spotify et. al. will follow soon). It was also...

Damn, I'm amazed. I know they're notorious for IP theft, so the fact that happened is surprising. But welcome for sure!

Does my audio still have room echo?

    Not curtains. You need mass.

Eh, if one of the musicians/singers pressed for royalties, I wouldn't exactly be mad. Like I said, if I started a project now, I would do that. I considered adding that to the guys I've been recording now, but didn't in fairness to the people from 10 years ago. And I'm actively trying to get a...

Yeah I have to start thinking about PRO, thanks for reminding me. I signed up for BMI like 16 years ago but didn't do a whole lot with it, and that one production I was the sole songwriter so it was easy. I'll need to start looking into *that* again, its been years since I've read/learned about...

Well, I don't think that's exactly fair either. Alex hasn't put any money or effort into the production of the album. I even asked him back in 2012 when I first started floating the idea of making the album if he can contribute funds, and he said no. I just did some rough napkin math and I put...

Oh wow, that low? Haha okay, thank you for that! Since there's 21 tracks, that'd be $2.604 per sale, so $1.302 to Alex, regardless of how much it sold for? Should be easy. Although to complicate things, while I am in the US, Alex lives in France. Would we still go by US laws since that's where...

So you're asking I don't pay my cowriter at all until I make "real money"?

    Songwriting Percentages

So I'm getting closer and closer to finishing recording my musical, which means I have to start looking at how to split all those pennies that we'll earn on Spotify ;) So my co-writer Alex and I agreed back in 2011 when we first wrote this, that we'd split the songwriting earnings 50/50 evenly...

Davinci Resolve - any users here at HomeRecording.com?

Just saw this thread. I've been using Resolve studio since 2021 (came free with my camera). Love it, although I'm still learning stuff. I just am now starting to get into Fusion and doing all the stuff in there. Currently working on a music video using lots of effects, its coming along nicely.

    mix in mono?

I actually do that for snare drum volume. Sometimes I think the snare will sound clear in stereo, but when I reduce to mono it can get a bit buried, so I'll bump it up a bit, and then when I switch back to stereo it still sounds nice and clear and not too loud.

    mix in mono?

Looks like this is an old thread bump, but I'll contribute. I do most of the heavy mixing in mono, before panning my elements (and I often do tweak the post-stereo mix a ton, but whatevs). This isn't for mono capability, this is just so I can get the mix clean and pristine as possible with...

Started mixing lead single for my rock musical (Musical Theater/Hard Rock/Prog Rock)

Sweet, this is a good observation and I do agree. I upped the feedback on the delay during this section, upped the gain slightly, and added a slight phaser effect, so hopefully that helps. Don't want to make it too big and prominent, but a bit more oomph isn't a bad thing. Also a friend...

Started mixing lead single for my rock musical (Musical Theater/Hard Rock/Prog Rock)

Thank you! Your comment, however, just goes to show how subjective this stuff really is. Granted I have three different mixes posted in here, but I had separate people say that the guitars, bass, drums, and vocals all needed to be louder. Which is it? The only thing that no one commented on is...

    No Regrets

I dig this. Not super familiar with production techniques for this genre, but everything sounds clear and distinct and there's no muddiness going on. Nice work!

Started mixing lead single for my rock musical (Musical Theater/Hard Rock/Prog Rock)

Okay, here's the latest mix. Implemented a few suggestions, and then some of my own changes: Boosted bass drum volume by a couple dB Tamed the 2khz boost I had going on the bass guitar (you could hear lots of string noise, especially when the bass got busy) Slight boost on the right guitar to...
