Here's another test mix - not quite a pre-vocal mix, think it needs a little more work first. Might replace the clean strummed guitar over the interlude but this version was sounding shit and I don't know why. Might replace the open hi hats in the chorus with crash-rides - not sure yet...

And going back to tones - I've just re-recorded an interlude to one of my more normal metal style tracks very loud with a bit of added fur from the Boss SD1. Might have overdone it - I quite like a bit of feedback though!

Adjusted the mic placement, relabelled my speaker cloth and retracked the whole thing. Better? I think so, its not as bright as the EQed one I did yesterday but doesn't have the harshness. Still a little on the darkside but a bit improvement.
