Guitar lead is real nice. Recording is pretty good in general. Not a big fan of double tracked vocals myself. And the severe panning and timing issues make it sound even odder to my ears. Maybe that's what you were going for, so take it for what it's worth. Just not to my taste. As it is...

No. There is a multiband compressor on the entire mix, but nothing on the drums themselves. However, they are e-drums, so I'm not sure what Roland used on the sound files. :)

This was recorded a couple of years ago. One of my band mates suggested I should post it for comments/suggestions. It's our take on the Alan Parsons Project song, Eye In The Sky.

Gotta agree with most of the comments. The 1/3 accents on the guitar seem stiff. As Spantini said, it seems to lack the swing of the original. Maybe too many instruments hitting the same accents (guitar, kick drum, etc). Might help if the kick was less straight? Cymbals at 1:26 are...

Listening on an iPad, so I won’t comment much. It sounds good, and I find that often it’s harder to make stuff sound good on cheap speakers than it is on good systems. So nice job. I’ll re-listen again on my studio system later. Nice guitar work btw. Update: Listened on a better system...

It was a fun exercise. Listening to them back to back for the first time tonight, I tend to agree with spantini and would give the nod to the earlier mix. That said, there are some interesting things in the second mix, and I just might play with it some more. We'll see. Thanks for the input...

OK, challenge accepted, lol. I located the original tracks (had them filed somewhat differently than I normally do. No idea why.) So I remixed it using your ideas. I left the original mix up top for comparison purposes, but here is the remixed version. I like it, but I'm not sure right now...

Interesting stuff. A live performance no less. like Spantini, I never heard of the instrument before. Slightly remindful of a steel drum. Any insight in how the name “tongue” came about? For a minute I was afraid you were going to lick it. :) Thumbs up.
