    Brains

Very melodic instrument. Nice for a warm and sunny Sat afternoon. Vocal levels are fine to me. Reference? Tubular Bells, lol.

Remix project: The first album revisited 20 years later

I saw that when Bandlabs first took over, but I thought there was some kinda catch. Something like the files weren’t on your hard drive, but were hosted on their site… or something along those lines that stopped me from taking the freebie.

Remix project: The first album revisited 20 years later

Excellent mix. I like the song (Shadow of a Dead Rose, I assume that's the one you're asking about?). Does put me a little in mind of Billy Joel. Vocals might have just a smidge too much effects on them, but that's mostly a taste thing. Good work. I also started recording on Cakewalk (PA9...

    Old Dudes "Rockin The Neighborhood"

Like this! Sounds a little like Little Feat (without the horns). Good toe tapper. Everything is well recorded and blends pretty good for an internet collab, Kudos.

Something in the water - Indie/alt folk song

Second version is better than the first, so you're moving in the right direction. Vocal is still too up front and has too much reverb, imo. What I can hear of the guitar(s) sounds pretty good. I'd bring that out more. As stated by others, the components of the mix sound like they're all in...

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

Gotcha. Thanks. Taste plays an important role in music, obviously. So I do listen to what everyone says and weigh it over. Sometimes I agree with the comments, and sometimes I don’t. I can see Spantini’s comment about a dirtier guitar, but I’m not necessarily unhappy with it as is. I might...

    "Blunted" throwback rocker

Guitar lead is real nice. Recording is pretty good in general. Not a big fan of double tracked vocals myself. And the severe panning and timing issues make it sound even odder to my ears. Maybe that's what you were going for, so take it for what it's worth. Just not to my taste. As it is...

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

Thanks. Yeah, it's a matter of taste, but I see where the lead could use some extra crunch. As for the drums, those are e-drums and the sound is what the drummer chose to use. We actually record them via midi, then split the midi file to individual tracks to allow full control over each...

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

Thanks for listening, dobro. Not sure exactly what that means. Care to expand?

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

No. There is a multiband compressor on the entire mix, but nothing on the drums themselves. However, they are e-drums, so I'm not sure what Roland used on the sound files. :)

A Little Less Wayback- Alan Parsons 1982

This was recorded a couple of years ago. One of my band mates suggested I should post it for comments/suggestions. It's our take on the Alan Parsons Project song, Eye In The Sky.

    Building a Fire

Nice. I like this. But needs more bass and drums. I can hear the bass, but it doesn't drive this like it should. But I mostly like it. :thumbs up:

Mack the Knife (cover of Bobby Darin 1959)

Gotta agree with most of the comments. The 1/3 accents on the guitar seem stiff. As Spantini said, it seems to lack the swing of the original. Maybe too many instruments hitting the same accents (guitar, kick drum, etc). Might help if the kick was less straight? Cymbals at 1:26 are...

    Opinion

Listening on an iPad, so I won’t comment much. It sounds good, and I find that often it’s harder to make stuff sound good on cheap speakers than it is on good systems. So nice job. I’ll re-listen again on my studio system later. Nice guitar work btw. Update: Listened on a better system...

    I Shall Be Released

Good ears, dobro. Yes I did. 2-3 db iirc.

    I Shall Be Released

It was a fun exercise. Listening to them back to back for the first time tonight, I tend to agree with spantini and would give the nod to the earlier mix. That said, there are some interesting things in the second mix, and I just might play with it some more. We'll see. Thanks for the input...

    I Shall Be Released

Thanks, Spantini. Interesting. Goes to show just how subjective music is.

    I Shall Be Released

OK, challenge accepted, lol. I located the original tracks (had them filed somewhat differently than I normally do. No idea why.) So I remixed it using your ideas. I left the original mix up top for comparison purposes, but here is the remixed version. I like it, but I'm not sure right now...

    Gone

Interesting stuff. A live performance no less. like Spantini, I never heard of the instrument before. Slightly remindful of a steel drum. Any insight in how the name “tongue” came about? For a minute I was afraid you were going to lick it. :) Thumbs up.

    Doo Wop Accapella

Appreciate the comments. Not sure we're worthy of them, but glad you liked it. (y) I don't have anything posted anywhere to send you to, so here's an upload of something that kinda represents what we're doing now.
