Thinking of Building a "Room in a room" for Drums in My Apartment

And you could use the room to record acoustic drums ! :P

    Suggestions for electronic drum set?

I think it depends on the kit, how many toms and cymbals one uses and how regularly the kit is set up. When I'm on a recording roll, say, 5 sessions over 3 weeks, by the 3rd set-up, I'm used to it and can move quite quickly. When I had the electric kit, it took me a little longer, or at least...

    Suggestions for electronic drum set?

Is there any particular reason apart from the obvious you're looking at an electric drumkit ? If you're looking to do big-band jazz, am I wrong to assume you're not going to be beating the heck out of it ? If that's the case, and you've got reasonable neighbours, may I suggest the Arbiter...

Hi Dave, I see that the suckage mixes thread has been closed. I don't know why. I was just about to post a post saying that, while the song you put up shows definite signs of inexperience, it didn't suck at all. I thought it was a decent piece. Take care, Tagbo {grimtraveller}.

Where have all the acoustic drums gone ?

I found a bunched-up bit of tissue taped to the snare did the trick.

New To Group And Troubles Recording In Stereo

You know, using the abbreviation AI for audio interface can be a bit confusing, especially with the current concerns regarding artificial intelligence. Every time I see it, I think AI, ie artificial intelligence. It reminds me of when I used to do delivery work and I was on Knightsbridge and I...

    Hi, I’m Scott Baxendale

He's a singer-guitarist who had a hit with a song called "The Road To Hell" and an even better known one called "Fool if you think it's over." He also played in a band up north that used to have David Coverdale in it {although I don't know if they played at the same time}. He's done more than...

    Talk about room reflections . . .

I bet not many people can name which song by Bruce Cockburn contains the phrase "Event Horizon" ! Free permanent residency in North Korea for the winner !!

Using hardware amp sim like HX Stomp vs Software amp sim?

I have come to realize {actually, I've long known this} that I'm a stubborn old cuss when it comes to what I like. I don't give a camel's hump in a Toronto zoo what the most expert of experts thinks or uses if I happen to think differently and like what I'm using. With that in mind, "if it...

Vocal Recording and Mixing Advice for Pop Punk / Rock

When I say 'satisfactory' don't get the impression that this means substandard or that I'll take any old shit as long as it's in tune. But a vocal that took 24 takes and 7 hours to accomplish isn't by default better than one that was done and dusted in 35 minutes.

Vocal Recording and Mixing Advice for Pop Punk / Rock

I don't recommend numbers. This is where the whole "there are no rules" myth actually isn't mythological and works. You literally do it until it sounds right to you. If you do it in one take, then it's one take. If it takes 3 or 7 or 10 takes, then that is what it takes. When I'm doing vocals...
