I called Tascam yesterday and ordered a manual for my M-2516 mixer, as well as some knobs that had the color tips missing from the top. I'm a little picky, so I wanted some new ones. Apparently I bought the last red (1) one knob they had left! Yeow! Anyone have 2 more they have laying around...
Question about Fostex R8 on Craigslist
I spotted this listing for a Fostex R8 deck in my local Craigslist site.

Ummm, why would one HAVE to use this deck horizontally vs. vertically? Are the reel adapters the issue? Does it sound like some...
I just acquired a Tascam M-2516 mixer and am in the process of learning how to use some of the features on it. This thing is a bit of overkill for what I'm doing now, but I have plans for other things where this will come in handy. Besides, it was a hell of a deal and I couldn't pass it up...
Of all the Tascam stuff I have seen posted by Reel Person, I haven't seen this:

This is local for me. Is this worth the money for me to scrounge up (not to mention take up what little room I have left at the moment)?
If anyone has a 414mkII sitting in their closet somewhere and wants to part with it, hit me up. Power supply is a must and the manual would be nice, but I can always download one if not included.
I figured this was as good of a place as any to pose the question. Does anyone know where I can get a service manual for a dbx 228 expander? I've got one that I bought used a while back, but didn't try out until recently. Stupid me. I tried it out and nothing seems to work. I took the lid...
I know you guys probably see enough of these questions to make you want to either yack or quit reading these altogether...............but.............which one of the two would be more suited to doing vocal work for a podcast? I've heard good things about the SM7b and I know some of the radio...
Hey guys. I know I don't normally hang out in here, since I don't create any music........as I suck and don't know how to play.:p Ever since the whole Cave fiasco I've just been sticking to the Tascam and Analog sections.
Anywho, a buddy of mine and I are trying to put together a regular...
Okay, as much as I try to dive in and read all I can about recording, analog, and the like.............there seems to be some "mystery" about the whole recording chain. Would anyone care to enlighten me on the process chain? I'm not sure what every part involves. You know, like tracking...
If you thought the Tascam from the other thread was bad..........
..............and this is a tape!!

I posed this question to the Tascam section here and haven't seen much action on it, so I figured you analog gurus would be up to the task.;)
Tascam 122 cassette deck.............what are the differences between the different versions? (122, mkII, mkIII)
There is one for sale locally (original...

$43 (as of this post) for ONE (1) quantity, as in single, cassette??? Wow!
It's amazing how much "reel" cassettes are fetching on epay.
I hope it isn't so, but here is an email posting from one of the Yahoo groups I'm on:
"Maybe I have been out of touch for a while but I just went through all the dealers of
RMGI in the US and it seems no one is selling 1/4" reels of tape anymore. What gives?
Anyone know where I can order a few...
I've got an idea. Seeing as how I have some time off over the next week or so, I was thinking about putting together a spreadsheet and/or a web page (along with posting a thread with the completed info) which gives a rundown on the various analog decks (open reel and cassette). I figure it...
I have to wonder what the attraction to Maxell tape is, in regards to the inflated prices (even over new RMGI and ATR at times). I have two reels of UD 35-180 and they sound great, but I can't say that I would pay through the nose for it.
However, I never really hear about Maxell being...
